Along these lines. I'm getting 10 emails an hour from 3 machines on campus. I've sent emails to site, etc. to no avail.

One address is a library machine and from the IP in the header I've tracked it down to the Biological Library and so finally I went and found the physical machine and pressed the OFF switch.

The "IT" people will probably never fix it. This is a good case for anti-virus viruses.. I wish I could introduce one in a public lab environment.

I originally responded to this using a pencil and paper. Each word written allowed me to reflect on what I was really trying to communicate as I manually wrote each letter. Using a keyboard could not have prompted me with the right questions of what to write next, not in the same way that a blank paper can. Sure there is spell check, but is that really the same as choosing words I already know how to spell. Truely, a keyboard with a backspace key can *never* be as useful a tool for any one trying to communicate with the written word. Writting with quills and ink bottles is more creative and the end result could never be achived by hardware and software. As a matter of fact, your should print this out in a script font and read it outdoors in the daylight in the same manner this was written.

So, since your CD for your OS is spinning 24/7 you just have to remember to never power down. Maybe even fix that sucker to run at 52x at all times. Yeah, I think that's how it works.

The spin-up and seek time isn't too bad. Have you tried Knoppix? And that is even running a compressed filesystem on the fly. With the GHz specs and the memory listed, they should work fine. At least try booting to Knoppix once.

At the very least you should visit a professional therapist and have them give you a psychiatric evaluation. He/she can diagnose your problem--maybe you're just a really bad procrastinator--and perhaps prescribe some medication, if necessary.
The problem with official diagnoses is that medically since the usual medical treatment is speed (yes, Virginia can I have some more Ritilin) family of drugs, you have to under go physical test, blood pressure, maybe liver, etc. etc. Then the ellusive ADD/ ADHD testing which is inconclusive.

Just assume you are slightly ADD/ADHD/Adult ADHD and read some general ADHD tips .
Maybe self medicate even... uh, Caffine of course..

No Micro$oft justs wants a monopoly on spam.. Is it illegal under their legislation to "offer" valued members of hotmail / Windows / MSN important opportunities.. Look I opened my hotmail acct and got another message from a sponsor. Good thing it's not spam, it's a valued notice from a service provider. Most all the spam on hotmail I believe comes from hotmail internally. I can't think of any way that a new hotmail acct gets 40 spam in the inbox in a few days, other than someone either giving out my email or allowing massive word guessing from a single point source.
