There's no significance at all and I can't understand why this "hack" has created so much attention in the media. This isn't the first time that Hotmail has been "hacked".. It's really no big deal at all.. okay so this person has access to 40 million accounts or whatever.. ooOoh he can get into your MAIL! what will he find? Credit card numbers and super secret passwords?!!? probably not. If you keep lots of important personal stuff in your hotmail account then you're an idiot, but on the other hand like 99% of the mail they will encounter is either a) chain letters, b) an advertisement as hotmail is notoriously known for, or c) just a little email from one buddy to another.... yes there is the *possibility* for them to find personal information or whatever, mostly passwords for acounts on other services.. whoopee doo.. but people get real.....
Before hotmail was bought out by M$ there was a CGI error that allowed anyone to access every account.. *ooh* i haCkEd hotmail. yay lots of e-mail and if I'm actually bored enough to read all of this I may get some info out of it.... bah.... the only information I ever found was the dirt on a few girls I was interested in:) I got bored with it and actually felt guilty so a few months later I e-mailed hotmail supervisors telling them of what I had found and how to fix it.
If hotmail or anything similar gets hacked/cracked again, the problem will be fixed in a heartbeat, just as this recent exploit was fixed. no big worry. the end.
I was in a dispute with one of the bosses, and we're an extremely small company and I had been writing my parents requesting help on an issue. After the day of this 'dispute' I have lost all trust for my employer and employers as a whole. My primary boss wrote me an e-mail that included a portion of an e-mail that I had sent to my dad. After I saw this, I felt rather violated.. not only did he get into my mail but he showed me that he did. Since then, other than losing the trust I had for him, I never use my work e-mail account anymore except for work purposes.
Regarding your issue, I think you should just do as you're told as far as "looking for porn" but if you find any, notify/warn the employees involved in a subtle manner while telling your employer that you didn't find anything... unless someone has excessive porn that you find bothersome and necessary to notify your employer....
After reading this article, the first two things that came to mind were 1) the line in the bible about "The Mark of the Beast" where every person will have some sort of identification that is required to buy or sell or do anything. And 2) Awhile back in Newsweek they had a small story about something I think was called the "JavaScript Ring". This ring stored all of your personal information, and based upon your uid and assuming that buildings supported it, your entry into some buildings could be denied based upon the information on the ring. I'm not a Jesus Freak by any means, but I do keep an eye open, and these two items are pretty big eye openers. No such thing as privacy anymore...
6 year old kid "hotwired" a car (meaning plugged in the battery) and drove for ONE MILE.. can you imagine how long it would take for a Power Wheels to go one mile, especially without being stopped by a driver???? Unless he is in the boonies or people drive Power Wheels' as a true means of transportation, there is definitely some exaggeration there.. well unless the kid IS a genius and rigged the car to go say 60/mph:)
