I have five kids and they will play outside 95% of the time. I do not own video games nor will I let my kids have free access to them. No I am not a prude and no I don't shelter my kids.
There is something to be said about the innocence of children and letting them BE children until they actually GROW UP. They will have plenty of time to be adults when they get there... let's face it... childhood is only about 15-20% of your life... the rest is adulthood....
Let them have their childhood and let it be a real childhood, not a psudo-adulthood
Uh.... ok...

Uh... only #2 looks like is the only one that talks about the software
"It was hard getting the list down to ten, but we did; here's the top ten - (1)Wikipedia, (2)Firefox, (3)Open Office, (4)Bittorrent, (5)MediaWiki, (6)Xvid, (7)pbb, (8)Outfoxed, (9)dyne:bolic, (10)GIMP, (11)Apache and (12)SourceForge." Must be new math...6+6=10 now
(1)Wikipedia =.5
(5)MediaWiki =.5
(8)Outfoxed = Political statement (0)
So.5+1+1+1+.5+1+1+0+1+1+1+1=10
Nice... I would expect this from both sides of the political movements...but from the technology movement... OutFoxed should not be included in this line up. Sure it is an opensource project but would a similar project about CNN have gotten in the top 10... doubtful...
This choice seems to not really be about "opensource" but rather a way to get the Outfoxed onto Slashdot...cheap
In the future, leave your petty political agendas out of a "TECHNOLOGY" top ten list.
Take a look at the Ernie Ball guitar string company. They made the switch several years ago. It is only 300 +/- people but they did it cause they got hit with being out of compliance with M$
That article was written in 1998... funny how things come true.
Global warming is a topic hyped by the liberal media... (would you like some more kool-aid?)
There is no scientific evidence of Global warming being caused by 100 years of petro usage... How much pollutants did Mt. St. Helens put out in 1980?
As fare as being dependant... I burn veggie oil in my car... but I still don't believe in this whole "Green house" thing and "Global Warming" being caused by humans... that is a very arrogant assumption.
"Even the scientist who first warned Vice President Al Gore about global warming, Roger Revelle, wrote shortly before his death: "The scientific basis for greenhouse warming is too uncertain to justify drastic action at this time." Responsible environmentalism is one thing--but don't you think we ought to be sure this thing is happening before we make a huge economic sacrifice for it?
Few Americans understand what's really going on. Hint: The conservative revolution has robbed liberals of a vehicle for expanding the size and power of government. But a long-term environmental crisis, even one manufactured by alarmists, could change that."
And the best part... (The author is refering to Pres. Clinton)
The global-warming scenario provides advocates of big government with an excuse for tapping into the lifeline of the U.S. economy for the foreseeable future. Better yet, the current president will be long gone before most of the belt-tightening begins to pinch .
The U.S. Senate should shut this one down before it goes any further.
IANAM (mathematician)
No, you can't....if you get something then there was always something there.
Split an atom... now split that... then split that... there will always be something.
Try to make some dirt...but you can't use any element/compound/atom/molecule or anything known in our world/solar system/universe/galaxy/etc...
You can't do it. Thus you can't get something from nothing.
It still proves my point...
you can't get something from nothing... thus showing the "big bang" could not have happened... and the "vacume of space" implys that there is something outside of it... and vacume is something.
Don't be stupid... You can fit every person in the world into an area the size of Texas if you gave each a 1'x1' square to stand... you could fit them all into Australia if you gave them all a average home lot of land. Ans what of the rest of the land... well, now lets see? What on earth should we do with it? I know, preserve it....
The whole "over population" idea is a myth.
"We simply pick a level of consumption we want to live at, calculate the population which can be supported by the planet at that level, and work to maintain 90% of that level."
Can you say kill, kill, kill...
Not to mention all the "bubba"s out there on a weekend bender.... What a great mix Bud lite and Flying machines... It is bad enough that it happens on the ground.

Can I have a copy of your perl-module for Latin. I just started taking Latin a few months ago and something like that would be great
Or it could be caused by all the soccer moms in their SUVs driving around town drinking Cafe lattes.
where did the energy/microwave/quarks/hydrogen/etc... come from?
Where did the black hole come from? Where did the matter come from...?
Get over it...
That guy is going to get a great job when he ETSs.
That was a great presentation and gave me a lot of great ideas.

What is "zero times zero"?
What is "zero plus zero"?
What is "zero minus zero"?
What is "zero divided zero"?
Answer zero... you can't get something from nothing.
Huh???
Whatever

The only difference between genius and stupidity is genius has limitations.
