  1. Slashdot used for racist agitprop on Podcasting Censored by Government · · Score: 5, Interesting

A novell idea. Let's use slashdot to gain exposure and some credibility for what most people would consider to be the whining and howling of a bunch of racists.

  2. Re:Actually what is more amazing is.... on Cell Phone CEOs Marked For Phone Cloning · · Score: 1

The traffic is encrypted. However: the encryption was weak to start with, so the NSA could snoop on you as easily as on a random Hezbolla-leader and on top of that the implementation contained several flaws. The SIM isn't safe, the traffic on the air isn't safe, it's just expensive to crack. If the figures given are right the price-point for cracking GSM is getting lower.

FYI: This is known to carriers since 1998, but they claim their anti-fraude measures will make cloning unlikely and unprofitable. Google(GSM encryption flawed).

Since you seem to think you have the freedom to say anything you like, why do you use 'the N-word' instead of the real McCoy? Afraid somebody might sue you? I actually am in the Netherlands, and have no reason to disguise words. I can say nigger or its translation, nikker, and much, much more. Hell, I can even say fuck or see tits on public television, if I like. You Americans had us worried some time ago about your freedom, with that ridiculus wardrobe-malfunction and the ensuing bruha. We called Amnesty International, but they said you had much more pressing issues than your Freedom To See Tits On TV.

  4. the boycott begins to pay off. on Music Industry Backlash Against Sony Rootkit · · Score: 5, Insightful

I've been on a active boycott of record-companies since 1997. Two reasons. Sony closed a local CD-factory, claiming that 'piracy' was the reason. The production-equipment was shipped to Romania (or such) so I guess selling the CD's wasn't the problem, but they found a nice way to justify moving to a country with lower wages. (please keep in mind that most of you barely had the equipment to burn CD's or the bandwidth to exchange MP3's)

The other reason was that most companies abandoned recruiting local talent. All we get in our shops is American R&B, all we see on TV is American Gangsta Crap. There is a shitload of bands out their, but none of the big labels will see or hear them. Ilse de Lange might be the last you've heard from the Netherlands.

Haven't bought a single CD since, except directly from the hands of the musician.

Created? Created what? As I recall he was mostly convicted for telephone- and creditcard fraude. Which makes him a common thief, not (his words) the 'Osama bin Mitnick' of the hackercommunity. Which in itself is a strange claim to fame. Does this imply 'somebody' will put him out of business using a MOAB while he's hiding in a cave in Montana? That would be cool, actually.

Well.. I did RTFB, and I get the suspicion that Boeing isn't going to hire this guy this century. Or next. And neither will Honeywell. Both get similar flames and incoherent insults on their policies and designs.

Perhaps we should rename this posting to 'Disgruntled Engineer pisses off most of the industry in a single day'.

No matter how strong are your means of security, stupidity will always prevail. I've eradicated stupidity from my household, and that works just fine. Stupidity in the workplace seems to be a different problem, however. Spiking coffee with arsenic is effective except for legal consequences. I'm still working on that one.
