Hearing stories of my parent's country were the goverment will arrest a man for "crime agianst the state". Then no one ever hearing from him agian. I will be worried about the current state of affairs in the United States.
Being a citizen (first born) and hearing stories on how a country's goverment can do horrible things to the citizens. I would be concern about this system if the people use it. Let us be honset about it will be used be the wrong people.
Anyway Janet Reno deosn't like the either so we they should not use it period
I receive linux stuff in the mail alot. Somewhere out there is my name on someone's linux mailing list. My info was collected because I signed up for some kind of product or service. This happens alot. Everyday, So this doesn't suprise me at all.
Ibm want to use linux so they can sell more Net-Appliances. That is why they are doing this. Which is not a bad reason. They want to sell more iron they could not care less about the OS that hardware runs on they just want to sell it.
People like to see how far they can push things. Overclocking, Racing, Sky Diving... etc are all things people like to do and see how far they can push the limit. People are going to find ways around they blocks these companies put their products.
The internet was never really made for security. Yes things can be "made secure" but most time it is not. What this case is about is the fact technology can be used for things these companies don't like for people to do. Insteed of using technology (DVD better encryption) to protect themself they are turning to the law. Now are the users of Scour doing something illegal maybe (fair use) the question is who should pay the people doing the illegal action or the people providing the technology to allows the people to do the iilegal action. If someone wrote a book how to steal a car. If a thief bought it and stoled your car using the instruction of the book. Who do you sue the maker of the book or the thief? Same idea. In the article they mentioned the Decss as tool for copy DVD I can other programs for copy DVD movies. And the movies named in the article are movies that are not on DVD. I thought that was funny.
Why don't they use the brazlian TLD or is that not enough. I am not saying other countries can not use the domain.com,.org or.net. But if this man was using this domain for a real purpose then fight for the domain fight for it hard get the ACLU. What anger me the most is the reason that was given for the domain repossesion. If this true then he has all right to own the domain.
As a serveer UNIX is graet but as a desktop it dies suck Like he said thier are no standard usable components that is what he is saying and would have to aggree with him
QuickCommerce is pretty good great tech support avialable 24 hours. They are quick and offer different type of options for processing orders over the internet. Check them out
This shows the power of open source. You can add new features to a product that wasn't currently there before. Low cost as in capital cost. Yet are other cost involed in Open Source the cost(time) of learning how to use the product. Also the cost of the people that will upkeep the product.
I found that maxtor drives die usuasly within a few months of heavy use. I always go with IBM or Seagate. If you don't changing out your drive all the time then have fun.
When 4500 customers come knocking at your door you have no choice but to listen. That show that this company will listen if they feel they can make a buck from it.
The problem that I with spam is the fact I wouldn't not want anyone sending me e-mail that I didn't to a service that I paying money for. If I get spam on a hotmail account that is fine but I do not want spam from an account that am paying good money for then I have a problem. That is why I don't have a problem with direct mail (snail mail) I don't pay for the address (unless I have a PO BOX even then most places won't charge you more if you get to much mail)
It is funny the response that the Government gives when people bring this up. The innocent has nothing to hide. Yes we do our passion, thoughts, dreams these are things we need to hold on to. If I decide to keep them private then they should be private. I would not let just anyone these things. I certainly would not want the government to know them either this is what I am afraid of. That we will give up what make us human.
If it is indeed GPL this will allow people to create an Office Suite appliance were that is the only thing that computer does. What would also be another interesting thing if some creates a GUI that write to the linux frame buffer then you won't even need an X server.
Remember when the auto industry began in the US there was over 300 different manufactors and now only a handful. So yes this is going to happen where there are just a few big dogs around and everyone else nipping at their ankles.

If I listen to alot of music then I would most likely want to buy it in different formats so I can listen to it anywhere I can.

I wonder if these people could arrested for fraud in Romania. I don't know but Pay Pal move quickly so no one gets hurt.
Someone should sue the MPAA about this region control crap. Test the legality of this in the world market place.
Now I can get a palm without feeling guilty. I mean to spend 449 for a PDA is much. Well now I can get one and have a clear head.

This kind of leadership I see why apple lost it's foot hold on the industry

I guess they found out that slashdot point their radar on their site so they now are blocking every one from it.
How long would it take some one to figure out to exploit this one? I guess you should use eudora or Netscape for awhile.

This would explain why I have only one sock out of a pair. The other one is in another dimension.
