They should have had a plan laid out before they said a word or just start replacing things slowly then tell the world. In this world everyone looks at what you and do and say it all has repercosion.
You create an emmebedded device with this distro you might have winner maybe as a helper robot that you can call on certain commands or anything else think about some the possibiloties here we are all a creative bunch here lets come up with some ideas here
The obvious military uses of this I wonder if the private sector will get any use of this. This would great for construction, junk yards, security, farming,..etc. Alot of our everyday technology drickles down from the military. The question is how long will it take for the military to allow the private sector use this technology.
This pure processing power here but the biggest problem is the fact when you have lots of data hardrives are your biggest enemy. We need faster hardrives. When I see the harddrives speeds reach the the level of processor speeds then we will really be cooking

This Case should be about one thing and one only. The fair use of DVD I am glad that is what is happening. If someone pirated a DVD they should be prosecuted but using DeCSS to play a legal copy of a DVD you have that is something different. All we want is to use your DVD with the operating system of our choice.
Yes with advance do you really think 1000 years is a good fugure I would say 300 years because technology tends to speed things up so 1000 years maybe a litle to short
Some would live in a known hell than an unknown heaven. The Future is just that The Future we don't know what it holds. All we can do is live our lives one day at a time and make sure that we live each day to the fulless that is all we can ask ourself now. If Robots do come along and are our equals or better yet superior beings I don't think would allow that to happen. We should and always but in the proper safety measures if we create such beings which I don't see for another 100 years or so. I can not say today if I will want to live for ever in a robotic body or even a cloned body of myself. The future will be an exciting time regardless of what happens

Since are not willing to do so, linux users may not even want to bother to buy card now. Well time will only tell.

Just about everyone loves some type of game it doesn't have to be video games. Games are how we all like to unwind. Though out the years society always seem to enjoy events surounding competion. Olympics, Soccer, Gladitators, etc. This is why games are some of the first thing being ported to linux because we all love to play games
Internet is a new Media for the world to deal with. When a new Media hits the block everyone gets scared they say the guy is going to take us out. Newpapers thought Radio might do that, Radio thought Televison would do that, and now the Internet people are looking at it as a old media killer. Like anything new in this world people have hope of the changes it will bring to all. All the internet is going to do is make things go faster. That is all to me technology has seem to do for us.
Companies out there are itching and straching to get to the top. Some are going to die. That is all it is really about. Understand some these companies mentioned may go under but others are not. In the years to come the internet companies that add value to our life are the ones that are going to stay.

The German Goverment "Gets It" the use of open source helps in keeping certain cost down. Allows you to add extentions to the software you use. Also allows you to audit the software you are using at the source so there are no question about certain things.
If any of read you Machiavelli the goverment and comapnies wants to control what you read, listen to, and who speak to. This is very important for control. Individuals now can access information that they never had a chance to access before. The world leaders are getting scared and they want to make sure they control your life remember alot people have a FBI file. I pretty sure I do. Being a first generation american they would want to keep track of me. But remember it is and always has been who has the knowledge that will be in control.
