My friend just got one last week -- a fujitsu. While it does throttle nicely, the P4 still does get mighty toasty. Not as hot as my duron, but certainly it's nowhere near as cool as my iBook.

I've administered many unix-like machines, and I am convinced that gentoo will never be ready for server use. It's got a targeted user-base.....the nineteen year-old kid with his ereet gaming machine. I honestly tried to give it a chance, but it is nothing compared to any of the BSD's.
Oh well, you'll never convince them of that.
And then spend two days going through/etc finding all the._cfg files it's spit out in the process.
FreeBSD Ports, and pkgsrc both work better than portage.
The folks stumbling out of the "cafe" in Amsterdam are gonna be freaked out.
If this had happened in the US, it probably would have been shot down by somebody already.
