those who purchased redhat were not the ones infringing on copyright laws, redhat was infringing on copyright laws, thus SCO is simply undermining its credibility when it chooses to go after the users rather than those who actualy violated copyright laws.
Also:: considering the fact that SCO wont actualy reveal what code in rh they own without a nondisclosure agreement I would say that they may not actualy have code and are simply trying to exploit those companies out there that are using rh and have the money to pay their fees.
my guess is that either SCO will be subpoena'd and unable to reveal the code or they will be taken to court on charges of extortion...and lose.
The right to privacy only pertains to governmental searches. If you read the constitution it expressly states that. Any business can do what they will with your personal information and the most you can do is sue them, and probably not win.
If you dont believe me break out a copy of the constitution and read it for yourself.
I made the mistake a couple weeks ago of posting some batch file workarounds in the askslashdot area. i'm freebsd on a 640/256 dsl line and i noticed the bandwidth usage:)
took me a while to realize what I had done, was kicking myself after I realized it =P
just a note for the future, you may not want to put a link to your site on slashdot. since it's a dyndns address i'm going to assume it's a personal computer and connection...1 guess as to why your inet is lagging so much:)
stable eh? I tried mozilla and mozilla firebird, finaly had to quit using it because it crashed more than IE
If it's a configuration thing then they need to work on their release because the default install should not crash.
Would posting his name and address and associating it with slanderous comments about him not be considered public slander and be illegal? not to mention endangering his life by posting his name and address. I believe he would have a case for a lawsuit and perhaps even legal action against them.
Slashdot has a signficant amount of technological saavy users. May I suggest those users boycot this company, I am willing to bet it will hurt them (the company) to some degree.
I have created a workaround for this problem that only has one flaw which I could use some help with. The bath files work great at restarting the service in the background, I just dont know how to detect a fast user switch. you can find the files here, here and here.
Just dump the files into your root and run winvnc.bat. it runs in the background. I know that it continues to run, I have been unable to get the Exit command to work but it does not continue to eat up resources, each time you use it the old instance simply is replaced by a new one. If you figure out a way to get it to run every time fast user switching is used please post it here.
This machine was using the latest version. my guess is that you were logging out and not using fast user switching. If you check the help site for RealVNC you will find that they expressly state that RealVNC does not work with fast user switching. Thus far the only app I have been able to find that works with fast user switching is PCAnywhere and that program is too bloated for my tastes (not to mention it is not free).
Any OS should be open to questions here. I use freebsd and Windows and I believe they both have their places. My guess is that you are a RH person.
Why bash the question? It's a valid question and there is obviously interest in it.

i hear that, go freebsd. :)
RedHat is for people who hate windows, freebsd is for people who love unix.

because in my experience RH users tend to bash windows more than anyone else.
