I don't just mean the technology, I mean the implementation in general.
e.g. turning pages by turning the PDA seems "intuitive", but what about when you turn the PDA to show someone else or for any other reason? imo, compared with something like a mouse wheel or a touch-screen "next" button, the acceleromaters make things more complicated and cause more problems than they solve.
accelerometers. seems like an over-engineered solution to trivial problems, and it's easy to imagine it being more annoying than useful e.g. when looking something up while walking.
look at the modern mobile phones e.g. Sony Ericsson P900 5-way jog-wheel, that's an excellent example of innovation - very simple and very effective.
to support manufacturing and the economy, only activities that involves large amounts of equipment are allowed. anything efficient is a threat to national (financial) security and illegal.
I haven't bothered with ogg so far because space is irrelevant on a hard drive, but if it can double the number of songs on a mobile it'll be worth it.
atheism is not a religion. there are many types of atheism, but basically it's about not *believing* in God, NOT believing there isn't a God. there is a difference.
agnosticism is a cop-out, a type of atheism for cowards. either you believe, or you don't, and if you don't believe you're a type of atheist.
I hate to tell the news.. but we already know that.
however, some of us also understand the main part is the conditions, not the fine, and that this "small" fine doesn't exclude the possibilty of more, larger fines in the future if MS doesn't behave.
apart from Real's general spyware BS, the only reason WMP has an advantage over other players is that MS has access to the OS source code.
MS is being forced to open up and give other players a fair chance. and when they can all compete on equal terms, WMP won't look so good in comparison any more.
just because they aren't new doesn't mean it isn't true.
some of them are stronger now e.g. IBM and Novell/SUSE.
but linux actually being good is also required. linux is constantly improving. conversely (imo), windows is getting worse (activation BS, DRM, unTrusted computing pushes).
while MS might be able to push all this DRM BS on home users via stupid DMCA-style laws, flexible computing is too important for business and education institutions to let the BS in. and these places have the resources to use linux and make it even better.
(this is an explanation, not necessarily my opinion)
the world view's America as the land of the selfish, run by corporations, headed by a falsely-elected retard, and not bothered about persecuting people, being hypocritical, or just plain murder if it's beneficial to profits.
MS is associated with similar "American" traits - bullying, being crap, holding the world back.
so being for open source and linux is like being against capitalism and MS.
1. Exceeding what is necessary or natural; superfluous.
2. Needlessly wordy or repetitive in expression: a student paper filled with redundant phrases.
3. Of or relating to linguistic redundancy.
4. Chiefly British. Dismissed or laid off from work, as for being no longer needed.
5. Electronics. Of or involving redundancy in electronic equipment.
6. Of or involving redundancy in the transmission of messages.
look again: lots of free CPUs means the one you bought is unnecessary. alternatively if software is more efficient, your new high-speed CPU is unnecessarily powerful.
redundant? why, are they going to start giving everyone lots of free CPUs? or is all software suddenly going to become much more efficient so we don't need powerful CPUs any more?
just because you see a word lots of times on/. doesn't mean you know how to use it.
outside my local supermarket there are two machines, and I always use the same one. here are the procedures for each:
machine number one: 1. insert card asked for pin: 2. type 4-digit pin asked if I want to see my balance 3. push yes asked if I want cash (with or without receipt) 4. push without asked amount 5. push amount
machine number 2: 1. insert card asked for language 2. push English (this is in UK) some nag screen about not charging me for use 3. push enter asked to enter pin 4. insert 4-digit pin 5. push enter options screen 6. select balance 7. select continue 8. select cash 9. select amount 10. push enter
don't be a tit. "Europe" isn't opposed to MS having a media player, it's opposed MS having a media player with access to special OS commands to make it seem faster and better. "Europe" wants other media players to be given these abilities.

there was a heated debate on TV between Palin and some religious guy.
Have religious people took the stick out their ass, or will there be more criticism?
what do you use to play Oggs? (I'm getting a P900)
mithuro, what's dat all about? is it good, or is it whack?
it's WHACK!
here there's a massive plumber shortage and even people with PhD's are retraining.
Is this the beginning of a blue-collar revolution? Do you think its time to crack open each others skulls and feast on the goo inside?
are you thick? the OS isn't meant to do those things.
since you can't browse the web without an internet connection, surely you think all OS's should come with an ISP account already installed and set up?
I hate to tell the news.. but we already know that.
however, some of us also understand the main part is the conditions, not the fine, and that this "small" fine doesn't exclude the possibilty of more, larger fines in the future if MS doesn't behave.
you obviously don't understand what an OS is.
IE/WMP etc are NOT free. you pay for windows, you pay for IE/WMP.
in case you didn't notice, punishments tend to increase dramatically for repeat offenders.
e.g. you get caught speeding you get a fine. caught again, another fine. caught again, lose your license. caught again, go to jail.
jeez, you're the 5000th person to say this.
don't any of you understand that this isn't THE END.
if MS doesn't change, they get another $600 million fine. and another. and another. and guess what, 53 billion is a lot, but it's still finite.

the way I see it:
the common property parts from socialist economics. the private property parts are from capitalist economics.
most economies are a mixture of socialism/capitalism. pure US capitalism died in 1929 and the US has been proped up by socialism ever since.

no, surround sound requires surround sound speakers. anything else is just BS emulation.

no it isn't the same.
Mozilla is an entire suite, Firefox is a stand-alone browser.
I would never consider Mozilla because it has so much crap I don't need.
Firefox usually gets advances like tabs and ad-blocking first and has more frequent updates/snapshots.
er, where the fuck is Firefox?
it is NOT the same as Mozilla.
