It's been on the Radio in the NYC area all week. 1010 WINS was talking about it nonstop (then again, they go through all of their news in 22 minutes and repeat), but they were reporting the first one, then they reported the second one -- note that in this one, the laser hit the cockpit of the helicopter of the people that were looking for the source to begin with, they were asking to get hit.
Why? Because analog switching has been done and done again since the early days of TV, It is easy to implement. Switching software for a machine getting 3 feeds in would be hard, and would take a ton of processing power and bandwidth. Using 3 return machines, outputting analog (or even SDI) from them, switching with a hardware interface, then converting back for the stream is EASIER. Also, when in a live production environment, EVERY field counts. Its alot harder to move my mouse and click 8 buttons to perform a dissolve from A to B than it is to press a button and pull a T-Bar.
Also, If possible, run a timecode run from the host location somehow, that way all the timecodes match up with the video from the host location. Add delay lines on the returns AND on the main/host line so that they all match up back at the host/main, then judge timing based upon that.
(1) because playing games and being locked into an internal network are specialized tasks
(2) So you are saying that Firefox/Linux users tend to reboot and get new IPs as much as IE/Windows users? Also note that a higer percentage of one of the operating systems users may have static or semi-static IPs. Thanks for adding another variable in.
Note: I'm not trying to say that one OS has more or less of the share, I'm just pointing out that the values cited can't be accurate.
Opinion polling won't give you a good number unless you poll a good portion of the market.
Aftermarket sales aren't easily tracked.
Windows-only subscription services will tell you a number, not a percentage.
What do cable modems have to do with operating systems?
I can download windows updates from within Linux (and I have before)
I can also choose not to download SP2 if I have Windows XP installed.
1) Who said everyone with a computer used a web browser.
2) Who says my IP doesn't change so thta every time I reboot, I go back to that site, it logs me differently.
I wonder how they know you are actually RUNNING Windows. I know plenty of people who go out and buy a machine with Windows preinstalled, and they just wipe it out and put Linux on. Then I know of people who get computers with Windows, use them for about 2 years, they die, and then they just leave them around. Just how do you count who is running what? (don't even start with browser-based stats, they mean nothing)
Yea, I remember these, the code was written poorly, and written so it would only run on one specific platform, usually a specific version of the compiler/interpreter too. Occasionally, it would have notes saying what to change for different systems, but even then you had to tweak it yourself.
I too got started in BASIC on an Apple//C
I had one in my room from the time I was two or three years old to play games on. One day, at the age of five, I was home with nothing to do, and I had gone through the Apple's included 'intro to logo' disk so many times, I could type everything it wanted without reading the screen, so, since everything on the included disks were open source, I started modifying the games that came with it, like 'Lemonade', and the Black Jack game. I started simply by shoving my name everywhere (what? I was five, what would you do?), then I started modifying the scoring:), and eventually I started writing my own programs. I've been moving on ever since.
How is this off topic? GPRS is used for internet access from cellphones. Now, with WiFi working on this phone/pda, the users don't need to rely on GPRS as they can now use WiFi networks.
Yup, Also, now with their new shipping procedures, they tell you to remove the harddrive before sending the machine in for repair. Mine just came back this week, they never even saw the hard disk drive.

Does Linux Have Game?
·
· Score: 1
If you intend on using the ROM for a console game (such example consoles are the NES, SNES, Genesis, Playstation, Gamboy, and so on), you use a program loader which loads and executes a ROM, and a set of libraries that implements the console API calls using their UNIX or X11 or Windows or Linux or DOS or Nokia equivalents.
It also emulates the processor and it really doesn't implement the console API calls using equivilants, it actually reads the processor directives and then implements an api call that provides a similar (emulated) result.
Maybe if they advertised......
Interplay never supported their products well anyway.
That part was a joke. If I wanted, I could go full-out upper ascii on your à®$é

So if I'm on a lucky streak, people can go check my records, then realize that they are being skewled by a n00b.

I believe alot of the 'laws' of calculus, I even believe Fermat's Last Theorem, even though I, personally, can not prove them.
I believe that fish is spelt G-H-O-T-I.

No, luggables are large boxes, weighing in at about 20 pounds, and having cool 1/2" shock mounts around the hard disk drive (they really are cool).

Depends on the restrictions on the band they were using.
