  1. Re:Green destiny on Transmeta Introduces The Efficeon · · Score: 1

I wonder what the RMax value on a per chip basis. I was looking at transmeta's website and they say that it has a 256 bit VLIW. But that probably has nothing to do with my question, which is, how many double precision floating point calculations can one of these efficeon procs can do per clock cycle. The rest of the chip looks like it would be wonderful for a cluster. Also Im kinda wondering how many of these chips it would take to meet the RMax value of VTech's new G5 cluster.

  2. Re:Stock? on SCO Derides GPL, Will Revoke SGI's UNIX License · · Score: 1

This argument is BS. The differnece between a click through EULA and the GPL is simple. At the top of every GPLed file there is a copyright notice and a general GPL statement telling you where you can find the terms under which you may edit and distribute the file. So in order to do either you must accept the GPL or deal with copyright(which has some very big and nasty teeth). IANAL, but to me this makes the GPL stronger than any EULA could ever dream of being. But I also reject the idea that EULA's that tell you you cant sell the software are not based on solid legal ground as well.

  3. Indemnification and the GPL on SCO Calls IBM Countersuit "Unsubstantiated Allegations" · · Score: 1

I was just thinking, Why does SCO want IBM to indemnify the users of the linux kernel so bad? Its easy. Same reason we can claim to to be immune to SCO's crap. Once you indemnify one person under the GPL you indemnify the entire community against law suit in connection with the use of Linux. IANAL, but wouldnt this indemnification also protect SCO against angry kernel developers from sueing it? Just a crazy thought.

I dont think that is correct at all. I think more accurately capitalism and communism in thier most corrupted forms are basically indistinuishable. Rememeber, Stalin didnt practice pure communisim, he is more likened to a dictator, such as Sadam or Hitler.
