    I've worked at a computer company. Making middle-managers understand the concept of pressing Fn + F2 together (it was a laptop) required a Powerpoint presentation (I WISH I was kidding)

    OK, subject is the short answer, here's the big answer

    Since experimental data usually doesn't have the same structure for all experiments, you may try something like this:

    at the deeper, most basic level organize it using JSON or XML (I don't know what kind of experiment you do, but you would put lists of data, etc)

    Then you store this in a NoSQL db (like CouchDb or Redis) and index it the way you like, still if you don't index you can always search it manually (slower, still...)

    At Apple you just can't hide and throw someone under the bus. The buck stops at you (or better, at him)

    Yes, Mr. Powell made a mistake, but in the antennagate issue, it's EVERYBODY's fault. And hence, Mr. Pappelmeister is to blame.

    And yes, maybe it's the whole 'form over function' excesses SJ is known for. But there are a couple of ways they could have done it without being too far form that (like having a 3 piece band, or varnish over the contacts)

    Anyway, celiac disease is not an allergy (and it starts at a very early age), so yeah, eating dirt probably won't make it better...

    You're right, EXCEPT for the multitude of places that DON'T take cash (as of course I found out the hard way)

    - Hotel rooms
    - Car rental places

    And I mean, not even "ok, can I pay with cash what I owe then you put your hold, whatever, in the CC??" "no."
