"Unbelievable. And I'm supposed to trust their methods and products with my enterprise?" Hmmm...who remembers the Microsoft gaffe where all of their DNS servers were on the same SUBNET. (http://www.techweb.com/wire/story/TWB20010125S001 8) Or how about how their prized source code for their operating system was leaked to Russian hackers (http://zdnet.com.com/2100-11-525083.html?legacy=z dnn) Or even better, how Microsoft's own network was vulnerable to a highly publicized worm (http://silicon.com/news/500013/1/2620.html) Your argument is moot.

...seriously...when are people going to get it? Windows is swiss-cheese bloatware. What good is an easy-to-use system if it breaks all the time? I can't decide what is more stupid: not running a firewall, not installing your patches, or running windows in the first place. --"I've never paid for a copy of Windows. I switched to Linux because I felt I wasn't getting my money's worth"--

The cheap one that came with my case overloaded and the power connector fused to my mobo! I always wondered why my voltages were always off and why the damn thing wouldnt do a cold start sometimes. This was a "400watt" model. So I was out both a mobo AND PS. I replaced it with a pricey Antec 550W PS, which should last me for years.

I am sure ACL's are merely an option. I installed Gentoo this weekend and the default sources came with the GrSecurity patch, which includes POSIX ACL's (among other things like a non-executable stack, buffer overflow protection, and randomized program PID's).

  6. HA! on SCO Awarded UNIX Copyright Regs, McBride Interview · · Score: 1

This is hillarious! SCO doesnt have a leg to stand on! SCO released a verion of Linux under the GPL, so even if their code is in the kernel, anyone can use Linux free of charge! And if these fools release a binary-only distribution of Linux they will be violating the GPL, and developers will be able to file a class action suit against SCO. It might even be a good thing if that happenes. Winning the court case would be a sure thing and punitive damages could be awarded to developers to help fund their projects.

The mailing list industry has been using this sort of concept for years with rented lists. Say you want to buy a list from a list-house for a one-time use. In that list will be several "seed" addresses which are checked by that mail-house. That way they can nail you for using the list more than once or sharing it.

Of course its cheap, its supposed to be cheap. The point is that the music has the most intrinsic value, not the packaging. The point is that the packaging is superflous and adds unnecessary cost. you obviously aren't interested in music in electronic format so why did you even bother posting?
