This is so true.
I use Yahoo mail for all my mail and calendar needs when on the road. They offer a free Intellisync program that syncs all contact and calendar data with Outlook. It also works on Palms.
I also have a Nokia phone. I downloaded "Nokia PC Suite", wich is a free collection of programs for editing images and sounds for the phone, as well as syncing contact and calendar data with, yes, you guessed it, Outlook.
Conctacts and Calendar sync. That's the main reason I use Outlook.
Because of trademark issues, OpenOffice.org must insist that all public communications refer to the project and software as "OpenOffice.org" or "OpenOffice.org 1.0," and not "OpenOffice" or "Open Office."

At a local computer store, they initially used a Windows-based GUI program at the cash register. Found out they use an Oracle database.
The poor employees suffered from constantly having to use the mouse to select an option (customer name, item, etc.), and the program ran like a snail. You could hear them rant like crazy.
2 months later, all cash registers were changed to a TUI, menu-based front-end.
Fast as hell, and the employees couldn't be more happy. They only needed the ENTER key to navigate the interface.
If you're using PostgreSQL, Gedafe is a very nice automatic web frontend generator. Just define your tables, views, constraints, etc. for validation and such, and it takes care of the rest. Give it a try, it's really good.
I've thought about that before, and realized FLOSS should make it all easier.
When talking abour Opteron and friends, one thing all the tech journalists mention in common is that "Win64 is not ready, sooo there're no apps yet that take advantage of 64-bitness, sooo you better wait...".
Forget Win64. With FLOSS, you adapt to the new hardware platform faster, and then it's just a recompile away to enjoy all the goodness 64-bits bring to the table (witness RedHat, Mandrake, SuSE, etc.).
In fact, I wonder why FLOSS still hasn't made hardware platform irrelevant...
... having worked mostly in Oracle for the last year or so, I've been missing SQL Server. This would be the first time I read such a comment.
I went from SQL Server to Oracle/PostgreSQL and would never consider going back, ever.
T-SQL is the most obtuse PL I've ever had the disgrace to use. Compared to it, both PL/SQL and PL/pgSQL are a breeze.
PostgreSQL setup: 8 cores, 16GB RAM.
Oracle setup: 64 cores, 512GB RAM.

Probably not a good idea for quality's sake.
AAC->CD->(MP3|OGG|*) loses quite some data. An explanation (OGG->MP3) here.
Even better, pgsql-performance
