    Not to mention, Mandrake is not a French word (the French word for the same plant would be Mandragore)

    Based on a reading of the article, maybe Mandrake is only going to have to transfer domain name(s).

    Video does seem to be the easiest bandwidth-soak to set up
    2GB/s is a DVD (2 hours good quality video) in 30s. Since DVD use a very old codec, actual video throughput is even higher.
    So even streaming high-definition TV is way below its full capacity.

    Take a look at the sun, and you'll see a huge clean efficient way of getting about 90-99% of the chemical energy stored in molecules
    Chemical energy is what you get when e.g. you burn something: this is the energy from interatomic bonds (electromagnetic force).
    Atomic energy is different, it comes from the bonds between protons / neutrons inside of the nucleus (I'd say it's the strong force but I'm not sure).
    I think the mass loss for fission is 1/1000, 4/1000 for fusion (for chemical probably in the order of 10-e9) (of course E=mc^2)
    I don't really know what your percentage means. The element with lowest nuclear energy is iron, so to get the most of nuclear energy ("100%") you'd have to turn everything to iron.

    I can make a pointer to a structure that contains an array of pointers to linked lists (which sounds obscure, but I can imagine it as a straightforward way to implement, say, a collection of variable-length metadata on a set of files)
    Or, more simply, a hash table.

    Actually, if we order the values, this is the N/2-th value, with N = total number of values. I believe more thant half the population has 2 hands, so this has to be 2.

    There is no reason to believe 3DES is any stronger
    The fact that it's been studied for several years before being accepted as a standard ? Besides, 3DES is relatively weak, and there's AES to replace it (which has also been thoroughly studied).
    It takes a lot to have a secure algorithm.

    The "multiple inputs give the same output" thing just means it's non-linear
    The correct term is injective. Linear is a wholly different matter. A linear function may give the same output for several inputs ; the constant 0 is linear.

    I know someone (an astrophysicist) who has diamonds from outside the solar system (the result of dissolving a piece of meteorite)... Doesn't look like much though (they're so small it's just dust, stored in a liquid).
    I wonder if it could also reach such high prices. (When I looked at it I didn't think it could be worth anything, if only because there's no way you can tell it's from there)

    I tried this once (to use SDL on machine to which I didn't have administrative rights), and I ended up copying the files from my own Debian box.

    I don't think I see anything wrong with the section in question in regards to copyright holders being able to contact you...
    There's nothing wrong with it... The point is that, as you point out, it shouldn't be necessary; so the only possible reason for its presence is that some powerful lobby specifically asked for it, and it was added; and that's the shocking part.
