  1. Re:I was just thinking last night of doing the sam on Mac mini Built Into Wall · · Score: 1

I currently have the mini connected to my 50" Sony Rear Projection LCD TV. It looks great and i believe it does do the 1920x1080. Its connected via HDMI to DVI. I dont believe it does to the 1080i i think its 720i. Lots of technical info here.... its monday morning.... If anyone would like more info i can check tonight. Also works great with my 17" PB. The only down side is the tv will only do a few resolutions. I have not yet investigated it but i had problems running games since most start in 800x600 which i dont beleive this tv will display. I also have the feeling that the bulb life will not be the same. But no need to but it in the wall it looks great on the shelf. Able to trash my DVD player. VLC is great. Wireless Keyboard and mouse. Its basically a really big LCD. What a great way to enjoy such a beatiful OS.

Ugh... I hate when people call a PC (Personal Computer) a Server. I guess because it serves something. Headaches? Im wondering what you are serving from this machine. Since its so old and you are putting all this new HW into it. Im sure that a P2 400 cant handle Gigbit while writing to a SATA drives/card. while handling traffic from 2 nics. BOTTLENECKS???? i think would be the term here. And i wouldnt compare a P2 400 with an imac of its time. Apple/Orange. An imac was for your mother or teenage girls who wanted a pretty easy to use computer. Not to throw 6 PCI cards into and serve anything but AOL IMs and Emails.

  3. Whatever Happened to SGI? John Walsh? on Reliving The Glory Days of SGI · · Score: 1

Maybe Jonny should do a little more research... Whatever happened to SGI is he kidding us. SGI is still here and is changing the computer industry as we speak. They have changed UNIX and now have changed LINUX. They build the baddest UNIX and Linux Server out there. And i could get into what they have done with storage as well. They make hardware like no other has. Im not going to get all into but if this guy knew anything about sgi he would know the technology they have and are making. And why dont many use such hardware? I believe its money. SGI has the most expensive hardware ever. So to you John Walsh do a little research before you title your article. Its like saying What ever happened to BMW. Just because you cant afford one and never driven one doesnt mean they arent making bad ass cars. Just means you are ignorant to what is out there.

Off the bat i develop nothing. The only language i know is english. But let me tell you I enjoy PCs and like others use them all the time. A PC is my primary machine. 6 Months ago i purchased a 17" PB and let me tell you what I love the thing. I got it for work, I am a sys admin for sgi servers, but it replaced my Primary machine at home, and this machine is a P4 2.4 1gig w/ many 15k scsi drives. The PB's screen is great, its sexy slim thin, and i at one time didnt really like macs, and hated the cult like peolple who used them. But now i love the damn thing, and the OS is great too. Wether the PC is faster or not, i love my pb and osx and will always have one as my portable computer. As well as a pc for my primary machine, and an sgi, and linux box for the hell of it.

I too use an old 21" SGI Branded Trini. Big, heavy, and the case is cracked to hell. But i have had to have my newer Trini replaced by dell 3 times. But this SGI one is like a rock. I use it first on an SGI Indy, then an o2 and now on an older dual P3 Dell and as a head for the Xbox when its halo night.

    I recommend a Xerox/Tektronics printer.
    Mainly the solid ink models.
My company makes ink for these printers, toners as well and also have many programs to keep the costs low when buying the printer and ink. We also sell the ink much cheaper than Xerox.
