The iOS devices have been cracked wide open at least 10 times, and there is (not public just yet) an untethered iOS 6 jailbreak.

As far as I know, the true shining example of digital signatures working so far has been the xbox 360. As far as I'm aware, they are still just doing things to the DVD player's ROM rather than cracking the machine itself though I really dont' follow it so I could certainly be wrong. I do know that if it has been cracked, it took longer than anyone else.

Encryption isn't required. Digital signatures will do the trick. Sure, modify away. Doesn't mean it'll get loaded as soon as the signature check fails.

Encryption isn't even useful. The decryption keys MUST be there in order for it to be run, so all you're doing is slowing things down for no benefit.

Digital signatures on the other hand, do accomplish the goal without providing the keys required to create new signatures.

Without looking, I'd wager what you mean is that Android uses digital signatures now much like iOS, the PS3, Xbox 360 and ... the Linux kernel (3.7) to verify binaries.

Yes, you can change code and work around everything.

SecureBoot with a fully trusted chain makes it impossible ... right up until an exploit is found in the chain.

Cracking isn't new, and this isn't particularly impressive. Not that credit isn't do for pointing it out, the guy is the 'First Post' so to speak, but other than that, its just 'meh, I did this when I was 15' and it was harder then as programmers weren't so lazy to store things in easily editable unsigned XML files since MOST people using computers had a bit of a clue.

Encryption, Tor, 'decentralized search' and all the other crap that comes up to 'hide' where the data is coming from and going is just for idiots who think they can 'hide' from the law.

You know what happens when you bounce something through Tor and the courts get involved? They sue the node they saw the data from. Do that a few times and Tor is dead. Same with various p2p protocols that bounce the data through other people. I don't have to find the actual downloader, just the person facilitating it. Like it or not, facilitating crime IS a crime. Ignorance is not an excuse in the eyes of the law, you'll even make yourself obviously guilty when you bring up the fact that you knew you couldn't tell what was going through your pipe.

All you are doing by trying to pull this sort of retarded shit is giving the government legitimate reasons to change the laws so privacy isn't there anymore.

It really doesn't matter WHAT the fine is for copyright infringement, don't do it and you won't have an issue. There really is no excuse no matter what you try to convince someone of for willfully violating copyright. You can live without someone elses content. This isn't an unbearable tax being forced on you for just surviving.

GPLv3 code wouldnt' be able to be posted at all as it would required Apple/MS to give away their encryption/signing keys, which isn't going to happen.

VLC came off the app store because one of the developers raised a stink and Apple didn't want to deal with him being a douche.

You can publish VLC on the App store yourself as long as you also distribute the source as it is GPLv2 which doesnt' do any silly things that prevent it from being put there.

Second off. The bomb will now hit some non-target rather than the target. Hope your kid doesn't happen to be in the school it just hit rather the command bunker it was supposed to hit.

Third off. They don't even use GPS for the last bit of guidance. GPS gets you 'close' so that other things such as terrain following radar can do the final guidance or bring the missle to bear on the laser designator.
