Actually getting one of the case workers to take a look at your resume/CV and telling you: "Hey! According to what's on file with us, you potentially match X jobs. Let me see if I can forward your resume to some of these places and see what happens", instead of handing out a cape and shoving them off on their merry way, possibly with a list of McDonalds to go to.
Hell, we have the tech available to automate the process, even.
Instead, we have a (probably) too huge agency that shuffles paper and people and feels good about it.
*disclaimer*
I haven't gone through an unemployment agency in decades and am only imagining that that's how things work these days.
They turned it down: one didn't want to give up MSNBC,
I don't have cable and I watch TRMS every night pretty much at the same time it would be broadcast in my timezone (central US).
She airs at 9pm ET, By the time 9pm CT rolls around they've already got it up on their website.
In 5 years of running a MacBook Pro, I have reinstalled my operating system exactly: ZERO times. That's worth several hundred bucks in saved time and aggravation each year.
That's not being very genuine. Since you said "a" Macbook pro, you've probably bought more that one. And I'm gonna bet you've probably gone through an update or two with the OS, too.
I've never had much luck with their genome tech. I just can't understand how I can be listening to David Bisbal one minute and suddenly be listening to Reba McEntire.
What games are available for the Android that are not available for the iOS?
I don't know, hence my question. It was an honest question - not everything needs to be about sarcasm.
But the rest of your answer has me wondering now... PBS, ABC, CNN, NPR or Netflix and Hulu Plus...
I'm guessing that Google could hire a million Android devs and still not get those apps, at least not the sanctioned ones since they're made by their respective brands. I have a hard time seeing a developer not from Hulu or Netflix getting something properly functioning on Android.
What *kind* of app is available on iOS that isn't available on Android? Games? I see plenty available for Android, maybe not the same ones, but they're available. Same goes for pretty much any other type of app.
Publicity is great and all, but how did the show actually do, financially? Or not even financially... what other opportunities were presented as a result (offers to show elsewhere, etc.?)
Publicity for publicity's sake alone isn't worth anything.
Why don't you come on over the the US, live here long enough to become a citizen and vote, then you get the right to bitch about how the federal government handles US programming for the US
If Apple buys Facebook, Microsoft will try to create their own Facebook in response.
Have you been to live.com lately? If you have any contacts that use Messenger, you'll see a stream of their updates.
Come to think of it, pretty much all the big players are doing this. See Google (with Talk) and Yahoo (with YM!) And I really haven't poked around live.com much, but I use Google reader (and to a much lesser degree My Yahoo) and can tell you that you have the ability to "share" stories, pretty much anything served up by them to your circle of friends.
My family cabin is in the middle of nowhere in NW Wisconsin (if you look on any cellphone coverage map, it's the blank area). Yet I have DSL speeds as fast I as back in Chicago (4-6 down, 1.5 up). I also get plenty reception from over-the-air digital tv. Nearest metro area is the twin cities at about 120 miles.
The downside is when a big storm comes through. We had a tornado come through this summer that took out our power for three days. Come to think of it, that's no different that in Chicago either.
It's a toilet all right, but a very annoying one: you hear every flush coming from your friends' toilet as well.
Really?
The first time I see notice of anyone's flushes, I block the flush notices.
Seems to me, if you're complaining about it, you don't really know what you're doing (and that's considering all you have to do is hover your mouse over their post).
Also, if you're a proper developer, get a technet subscription and get access to whatever software of theirs you need and never pay full price for an OS again.
Why on earth should he have to buy an entire OS - discounted or not - just to test a browser?

Damn, that was a difficult page to read. Because I don't have ADHD, I guess.
One point you forgot to obviously include.
- People are too lazy to read whole articles that explain everything and instead base their opinions on someone else's summary.
When I read anything that starts with "The Full Story Behind..." I tend to discount it as just one side's agenda.
TCO is not really impacted as the $300 he spends is surely cheaper than antivirus and all the other BS that goes with a typical windows desktop.
TCO is most certainly impacted if all you can do is "try" at $150.00 and fail in the end. At that price I would want a "Yes, i know how to fix that."

Show me Saudi Arabia's "royalty" giving way to its citizens, and I'll be damned inpressed. And we'd be sure to see other nations protest.
Bahrain? It's a playground, nothing more.
Well thought out is well thought out, regardless of whatever system you use.
For my media files (on a separate server)I use Rhythmbox for audio and XBMC for video.
And I back up everything somewhere else, just in case. I don't have terabytes of stuff though. Close to a terabyte.
maybe the IPO capital will allow them to absorb grooveshark? hmm...
Please, no.
Better they use the cash to improve what they already have instead of purchasing something that will never be properly integrated.

Keeping it free and open is evil? =P
That's not what I said. Nice try though. And you're kind of making my point.
I have, however, read MANY comments on the evils of the very bits of default software that make me like Ubuntu.
hello! /. is better than this!
Um, actually, no it's not. Slashdot ROUTINELY puts up sensationalist and outright wrong headlines.

You misspelt 'English'.
Who misspelled what now?
You sound like an Esperantist. I suppose you randomly invite people to sleep on your couch too, just so they can learn Esperanto.

They're all already doing it to some extent.

You probably also think the only safe drinking water comes from a bottle, too, right?
