    I've long held a theory that my ISP (Cox) is limiting bandwidth selectively by site, and that they make all the benchmark sites wide open, but throttle others, like netflix.
    It seems they have already added fast.com to their "Do not throttle" list but not added Netflix.

    "The federal government funds about 85 percent of our work. The rest is funded internally or by foundations."

    So I guess the question is, do you trust the federal government and/or foundations to not be largely controlled by or at least primarily motivated to protect the interests of Monsanto et al?

    Al Queda explicitly don't want the local populace being educated.
    As long as their foot soldiers remain ignorant/uneducated, they are MUCH easier to control with illogical ideologies and fairytales.

    Call me strange but if buy (i.e. pay money for) a product I expect it to work FOR ME 100%. There should be no extra nickel-and-diming or giving any of my CPU cycles to someone else.

    It feels different when something of high value is given for free. You kinda expect some level of give and take somewhere/somehow.

    I would have expected the majority would have gone almost anywhere other than Hong Kong.
    I saw a documentary a while back showing how much perfectly good/working electronics and appliances of their own that the Hong Kong Chinese are ploughing back into landfills since the people there are apparently used to throwing out even expensive stuff just because its over a year or two old.
    Why on earth would they want our old shit?

  17. Its already effectively legal in AZ since there are now businesses all over the state whose whole existence is clearly and openly just to sell every/any walk-in a medical marijuana card.
    The current situation makes no sense on any level. They need to either properly enforce the law or kill off the parasites and make pot 100% legal.

    Exactly the same is true with blood-alcohol level. The current .08 level and proposals to drop it to .05 or lower has nothing to do with the 0.15 level proposed by doctors. It is all by politicians seeking votes and pressure groups like MADD.

  20. Assuming the Tesla is the same as many automatic vehicles in that you have to hold a button on the shifter down to shift into park or reverse, it seems to me like it would be pretty damn easy to not fully press the button while doing so, which then gets seen by the car as a double-press.

    I think you're being incredibly naive about the actual ability of Nisaan and Google's self-driving cars. Its still a LONG way from being ready for release into the wild and to the public.

    You have no idea how endlessly creative the ignorant masses are in coming up with ever more stupid shit that they will inevitably presume the car must be able to automatically cope with.
