Is it more wasteful to produce a product in the US for $100 and safely dispose of any hazardous waste products than it is to produce the same product in China for $50 and just dump hazardous waste onto a field somewhere?
In the US we have mandated safety standards. Third world countries have little or no safety standards. Laws that require companies to provide a minimum level of safety can hardly be called wasteful.

His crime is breaking the attorney client privilege. Attorney client privledge is one of the foundations of our legal system. If the court could require an attorney to devulge everything his client had told him, then clients wouldn't talk to attornys.
An attorney has to keep private and anything a client has SAID about a past crime (that doesn't mean he can hide evidence like a gun etc..). If the client tells the attorny about a FUTURE crime, then attorney should inform the cops.
From the article, the memos were between lawyers just talking about the case. They memos were not even evidence of a crime, just the laywers saying "Hey this could be bad news if its true". If the memos had been about a future crime (ie, hey lets run uncertified systems in the next election), then the story would be different.
So, the guy broke attorney client priviledge. If your going to take a principled stand and do that, then you have to be prepared for the consequences.
Cases like this only help the terrorist. The government bought the systems. Who are we in time of War to even question those dissisions? If expert companies like Halliburton and Diebold says something, then we should rally behind the president and support them 110% !
