I think JMS's proposal is to turn Star Trek into a reality series. You could set it at Star Fleet Academy and put recruits on a island and have them complete for a commission on the Enterprise.
They really messed up when they came up with the Windows Media Edition instead of making that the killer app for the X-Box. I've chipped my X-Box and run X-Box Media Center on it. To do the same thing with Windows Media Edition would cost $2000.
You can just as easily blame corporate radio for the lack of CD sales. They play about 5% of the music that's available and in heavy rotation. Most people have no exposure to 95% of the music produced. If I ever win the Powerball I'm going to buy a radio station and never play the same song twice in a 24 hour period!
The only reason DRM exists is that the record companies are scared (as they should be) that they are eventually going to be out of the loop. One of the major reasons artists sign with record companies is that they have a distribution network that will get their music in stores so they can make money on the sales of said music. With the internet and digital music formats, the artists don't need the record companies anymore and can go direct to the consumer. What's to stop major artists uniting (a la United Artists in the 20's) and cutting out the middleman. The record companies are running scared and if they don't stop alienating their customers by charging high prices and coming up with copy protection schemes they will go the way of the piano-roll makers.
In this materialistic world, a lot of items have no competition. If I want a Metallica CD and can't afford it, I'm not going buy a Pantera because it's cheaper. If I want a Nike sneaker I'm not going to buy a New Balance because it's cheaper. My point is it's branding that makes certain things desirable and a rose by another name is not still a rose. Companies now have virtual monopolies on thier products thanks to the extention of copyright laws. If we keep sending our higher paying jobs overseas and replace them with lower paying jobs, who can afford to buy these things anyway? It doesn't seem to make long-term business sense. Of course they can give a rat's ass about the long-term.
Fiscally Conservative: Spend more than you have and don't pay your bills!
How can you be that ignorant? There used to be more rules in place that limited how many radio and TV stations you can own. There even used to be a rule that foreign owners had to own less stations. These rules were relaxed over the past 10 years and they even raised the number of stations a foreigner could own to appease Ruppert Murdoch. Even thought they did this after Murdoch gave millions to the Republicans, it still wasn't enough. So what did the Republicans do to fix this situation? They fast-tracked an American citizenship for Murdoch.
Did you know that the Bush Administration has put a cap on gasoline in Iraq at 5 cents a gallon? We are subsidizing each gallon to the tune of 45 cents. Who is paying for this? The American taxpayer.
Clear Channel and Infinity Broadcasting, through their monopolistic practices and heavy-rotation of bad music, created the demand for file-sharing and satellite radio and are far more responsible for the recording industry's problems then Kazaa.
You need a special monitor to view the 3D image. It doesn't display 3D on a regular TV. It won't work with IMAX because IMAX is film, and this is video. It would be amazingly expensive to build a 3D video display the size of an IMAX screen.
He's no more worse than Larry King, Charlie Rose or Chris Matthews. That's the style nowadays. Ask a question, let them get half-way through with their answer, interrupt them with another question.
How about this. If a patent holder finds someone violating the patent, he is required to file an intent to sue letter and allow the proposed defendant 6 months to find a reason to invalidate the patent or prove it doesn't apply. He would present his evidence before a patent review board and if the board denies his claims then the suit can proceed. I think all lawsuits should go before a review panel before being allowed to proceed.
The patent application didn't need prior art to be dismissed out of hand. All it took was a patent clerk that was familiar with the state of the art in modems, computers, and networks at the time. Is it too much to ask that the people approving the patents know something about what they are approving? Anyone that ever used Compuserve or local BBS's would know that there already was on-line payment done by computers.
Federally, no one cannot deny housing or jobs based on race, creed, ethnic origin, age, or disability. You CAN deny based on sexual orientation. Some states and cities have added sexual orientation but it is not the law of the land.
They didn't say you had to give your correct name. Just make one up. They can't force you to produce ID.
What is the flight velocity of an unladen swallow?
I guess you have the right to remain silent after you are arrested but not before.
How about Triumph, the insult comic dog as the captain?
The irony man! Don't you get the irony? It's like posioning the ribs and getting killed by the rib truck.

It wasn't just the acting. The dialog they had to say would make any actor look bad. The writing became much better after the second season.

Liberals have no cornerstone on intolerance. Just ask Ann Coulter.

I thought Starcade was a WCW pay-per-view wrestling show.

Not to mention All in the Family (Til Death Do Us Part), Sanford & Son (Steptoe and Son) and Three's Company (Man about the House).
Actually, England is one of the only countries that is supporting the U.S. (i.e. Emperor Bush).

Who's scared? If they represent the Bush administration they should hope it gets outsourced. After all, sending jobs overseas creates American jobs. ;\
The best way for them to understand it is to tell them that spyware does what the government needs a warrant to do.
