I definitely am not into the new style of "chunky" interfaces. I agree, the plain simple window is best. I use ZoomPlayer as my default player. It's nice configurable but simple interface, plus the skipping frames with the scroll wheel has me hooked.
I will never again install anything from Real or anything to do with Quicktime.
The two worst software packages when it comes to media on the web, in my opinion.
Yes. The thermodynamics involved in the device have been known for thousands of years. But the invenion is appling this to keeping food cool in a Nigerian village. To the best of mine, and Rolex's knowledge, nobody has apparently tried that particular feat before on a Nigerian village.
I am going to bring my Xbox there, and "invent" gaming.:)
And if we can terraform an entire planet to save our species, I'd imagine we could save ourselves on our own planet without having to jump to another.
Most all of the money we dump into this crap is a waste. And I'm not trying to be a troll. But seriously, we want to make Mars inhabitable. Why not start a little smaller there pancho. Like Africa.
The problem with this.. besides it being probably completely impossible, is that before we ever started reaping any potential benefits of this experiment, we will immediately start taking this planet for granted. I don't know, that probably sounds like hippy stuff, but I think it's true.
Under UK law it is considered prostitution but prostitution is not and never has been illegal in the UK. Soliciting an act of prostitution is illegal however. It is far from clear that this was technically soliciting in the meaning of the act.
Law has little to do with what Ebay may allow or not allow on their site. Check out their policy here.
They have pulled auctions of OEM software of mine which complied with all of their rules. I really can't imagine they'd let one go from an overseas virgin girl.
Ebay used to have a firearms section, now they will pull tons of stuff that's not even against their rules, and definitely not illegal.
Honor those who died. Don't use them as fodder for your feeble and immature political arguments.
Honor them? The way that our government who actually sent them to their deaths does? How about a quick photo of me shaking the hand of some dead kids mom, or a token turkey dinner for about 50 of the thousands of soldiers over there?
It is immature political arguments that got those kids killed in the first place.. not an overly critical public.
So, by all means.. sign up to "defend the ideals of the constitution", just don't be surprised if the constitution has changed when/if you make it back from where ever they send you. Because that's how much respect for our service men & women the government really has.
While 500 soldiers dead is relatively minor, and while they did volunteer, looking at it from a different viewpoint: it's 500 people. Dead. How "minor" is that?
Here in Colorado, if you were to ever say that the 12 kids who died in Columbine was relatively minor.. I think you'd be lynched or something. It's always about context I guess. In my opinion 500 is too many considering that there still is no real explanation for why we are there anyway.
Next thing you know people will get stories posted about how their girlfriend cheated on them, and they are thinking about killing her.. but aren't sure if there might be a better way.
Any suggestions as to how I can get this policy overturned without looking like someone who wants to spend my working time on my cell rather than coding?
How about, send what you posted to your boss in email.. minus the immature threats about quitting, and explaining to him that either you can use your phone, or maybe that could get you an alpha pager or company phone?
The record industry's attempts to sue people who share music online threaten to change the widely held expectation that everyone's anonymous when surfing the Internet
Everyone was anonymous while they were on the internet, until now? Jeez, Canada must have a waaaay better internet than this hunk of junk we got in the states.
I thought my sarcasm was obvious. Yeah, everyone talks so much about how she's too skinny, too nasty, too stupid. But I bet nearly anything it was the most downloaded video in internet history. I can't think of something that would compete.
I know I had to check it out. NASTY SKANK!, I think I'll just, yeah.. go ahead and let it loop...
But perhaps Microsoft should be criticised for releasing a partial fix earlier? For not investigating the earlier problem with enough dilligence?
Perhaps nearly every network enabled software developer should be criticised for the same? I'm sorry, but that was an asinine statement.
Nearly every major piece of software on any OS, especially those that accept network connections have had multiple vulnerabilities over time. Even those developers who are extremely diligent (ie. OpenBSD) have had their share of problems.
Any action on a developers part, especially a proactive one, should be commended..
Frankly, I would have applauded her more if she had gone ahead and videoed the anal sex scenario as well. But that's just me. I'm sure no one feels that way.
You're right! What she did was disgusting, and the fact that no one downloads her raunchy XXX video is further proof that America, and the world at large is FED UP with that kind of behavior.
Should it be necessary to have heard of "automount" to accomplish the simple task he described?
I'm Unix/Linux literate. Ran Slackware in '95, when Linux's multitasking and power were actually impressive. When Windows truly was a huge mound of shit, and when I would otherwise have been using DOS. I can do just about anything in Linux, but it doesn't come without a steep learning curve. Even though Linux has evolved dramatically, in my opinion it's still in no position to win over mom & pop.
A nice unbiased article about how Linux is superior...
These arguments are always stupid anyway. It really depends on what you mean by "superior." If you mean, who controls more market - as superior usually means in a business sense - the Microsoft is by far superior to all other operating systems. If you mean superior as in gets what you want done, and linux gets what you want done.. then Linux is superior to you, so why should you care what Microsoft is doing at all? I don't get it, and never have.
I personally don't run Linux. I have a lot of quirky particularities in various Windows software that I admire too much to give up. But I don't run around wondering what "those Linux people" are up to all the time, constantly trying to dig up dirt.. or gloating at an open source failure.
Sometimes nothing will motivate someone like that to interact. Why would they? What will they get out of it? When I was a kid, I had no friends.. and I really didn't care. I was diagnosed as depressed and everything else, but I really just didn't get anything out of dealing with people who were pretty much retarded in my eyes.
However.. when I got older.. I needed things from people. Sex, money, rock & roll, etc. And so, I learned to just make that into another type of game I suppose. If he's so gifted, he'll figure out he needs to comb his hair before he goes to interview. But why should he give a shit if some kids who will grow up to be garbage men and roofers make fun of his hair now?
Yes, unfortunately.. we still get tons of the crap coming in, and all of the bounced mail that was never sent. What can you do about it?
I just block everything that isn't a document of some sort. Haven't had any problems at my company since.
My guess is that the bug was introduced when Justin Frankel gave everything up and AOL took over.
/sarcasm
Well, since it's a security vulnerability.. my guess is that Microsoft has something to do with it.

Nice geek thing to do though. Maybe next time they can do it in the middle of a street and Reclaim the Streets!!
I don't get it? They advocate standing in streets to make a difference?
Seems to be as equally useless as supercomputers with nothing to compute.
I hope this is just another [late] April Fools Day joke, but I'm afraid that this looks too scary to be real."
Now that just don't make no sense!!

Note: I hate Ebay.

I personally have a waaay bigger problem with the way AOL operates over Microsoft. Please god, don't let this happen.
Hello? Slashdot to user: 'baggies' ladies in Everquest doesn't count.
Hello? Me to pothead: you're high, and not making any sense again.
And why did this make Slashdot at all?

One might also want to question the level of quality control that went into the second patch.
As you always should, especially for security sensitive applications.

Is that the real site is slashdot'd and the carorcar guys site is running just fine.

When I was a kid, my parents would tell me about this, and even then.. I thought they were crazy. Now, religious or not.. it's coming to that.
