Bob-the-Bass, the trophy bass plaque that talks and moves has been hacked several times (linux) to say rude things and somes just tail-flip. There was quite an extensive article several years ago. (2 or 3?) Might even be in the G4 archives.

I remember a large company capturing the heat from their IBM mainframes and using the heat to provide heat to the building. Aux heaters helped out. I guess Intel is planning on a servce called "Integrating your new computers into the company heating system." Cooling? Thats a problem...

Since anti fertility shots aren't a problem, 2 problems remain: 1) How many tons of saltpetre will be needed to reduce the libidos on board. 2) Is NASA planning on leaving a trail of feminine sanitary products orbitally headed for Mars? Of course limit the expidition to astronaults over 65 who can handle/solve all of those problems.

Your statement is self-contradictory. By your logic, the person (manager?) who read and forwarded them to personnel(or upper management) was in violation of your view on AUP. The situation was resolved incorrectly. The ladies e-mail war should have been released (and it has) to the media. The ladies can sign a release or be terminated. The embarassment they would receive would more than sufficient punishment. Security on their e-mails would let them know that all of their e-mail would be filtered and anything not relating to AUP would be cause for termination. I have a close connection to the security dept of an enterprise network and the manager told me a couple of times about having his weekly report about violations going to personnel. Their AUP does not allow a 'lets go to lunch between VP types', even if it is for company business.

I can only think that about 100 years ago about your opinion on things like cars, electrical gadgets, and air/space travel. My favorite idiots are the ones that refer to earth-orbital as 'outer space'. Ever read any stories by Authur C Clarke? He was the Astronomer-Royale for England for many years. Some of his stories from the 1930's 0 1940's included accurate usage of communication sattelites, space shuttles, and the need to establish a space station before exploring 'Interplanetary Space'. His book "The Fountains of Paradise" explains his theory for something NASA scientists are just talking about, an elevator from earth to a sattelite.

I understand Academie Francie is going to pass a ruling making PI = 3.0. Wonder if the French courts will uphold that. At the same time is it going to become illegal in France to publish 'problems' with Windows XP, after all that will be trashing Microsoft's feelings.

Some applications can never leave the corporate environment. I refer to base personnel information. Payroll might be out-sourced (a mistake) to a bank but unless you are a suicidal corp you keep your personnel files hidden, from everybody. I mean everybody! Don't trust anyone below officer level, keep the clericals out of them. I have seen too much bad stuff over the years. I was a programmer/systems analyst for a large bank in my area and had all the horror tales passed on from the past few years.
