If it was an hardware implementation, the initial implementation will still have all of the overflow bugs and what not that will still allow the attacker to exploit the system, and you would not be able change the program unless you swapped out the chip, or worse yet, you whole system since it was integrated onto one chip.
Hardware has bugs, just less noticable because it usually goes through a more rigorous check than software since they tend to only have one shot at it unlike the constant patching that can go on for software.
I think it will be a while before floppies are trully obsoleted as floppies are a very economical way of transporting small files arond as you don't need to worry about driver problems, internet connection etc. Yes CDs are nice, but who wants to carry around something that will probably crack in your bag when you fall.
Not to mention that many times, the doctor loses his malpractice insurance and is forced to go to another provider that is twice as expensive. And these insurance cost alot to start out with. (Around 100,000 or so depending on type of doctor I think and depending on state)
then maybe it would be more reasonable. However, as most area codes are still linked to specific areas, the extra amount of numbers an area code in a specific region may have to handle due to people wanting to maintain that phone number may cause regions to go through very annoying area code splits, which of course would mean half of the population in that area code would suddenly have to dial extra digits to call someone in that area code.
Would be nice to have an area code just for cells for people who want easy portability to different regions, but that would also cause problems such as people not wanting to call due to long distance charges.
I agree. I would rather wonder about the safety issue if nay some murderer was after you and you were not able to start your car instantly to get away.

I believe Solaris 8 is supported more by other companies. For example, for many electrical engineering software, Solaris 9 is not on the supported list of OS's yet.
Isn't VMware emulating the hardware and using cycles from your main CPU while the windows session is Solaris using a whole seperate processor for the system? would be nice to have cpu boards for x86 machines though.
So soon we'll see people running into the middle of the road shouting "I got the item!!". Then a few seconds latter they get run over. They better make this thing safe.

What, you mean you dan't use floppies anymore?

Unfortunately, M$ would probably do better on this as it's broken crap seems to work with broken crap.
Fire? What's fire.
