  1. No AI? on Linux 4.16 Released (phoronix.com) · · Score: 5, Funny

What? No AI engine? What about a smart assistant? This Linus guy obviously doesn't know much about operating systems.

  2. Re:How do we prevent the AI, itself, from attackin on To Protect AI From Attacks, Show It Fake Data (technologyreview.com) · · Score: 2

I'll tell you what: you write a simple program that can reprogram itself and I will listen to this drivel. We can barely even create functional software. You guys think if you connect a million computers together then you will have AI. But really what you have is the Internet. And that ain't intelligent.

  3. What is with Slashdot and "AI"? Who is shoveling this drivel out? 21 billion in mergers and acquisitions related to AI?

  4. Re: 15 major browsers? on Ask Slashdot: Are 'Full Stack' Developers a Thing? · · Score: 1

That isn't 15. And Opera isn't a "major" browser. You are talking about browser/OS combinations, not browsers. He split the resolutions out already. There are only 4 "major" browsers left at this point. Soon to be 3.

  5. Amazingly on Apple Goes on Hiring Spree To Improve Siri's Smarts (engadget.com) · · Score: 3, Interesting

Throwing people at the problem won't work. Siri can't even understand follow up questions like: "Who is the President of the US?" followed by "How old is he?". So much for "AI". It isn't even a very good Eliza.

  6. Re:More than tools on Ask Slashdot: Are 'Full Stack' Developers a Thing? · · Score: 3, Funny

I think he means it is really complex because front end developers switch their development libraries every 3 months. It must be hell.

  7. 15 major browsers? on Ask Slashdot: Are 'Full Stack' Developers a Thing? · · Score: 4, Insightful

Who codes for 15 different browsers? No wonder you think it is so hard.

Why are we allowing corporations to "debug" their cars on our roads? You have no concept of reality. 700 deaths on US roads. What would the number be if every car was using Tesla's autonomous technology? It might be 10,000 deaths per week. How would you know?

  9. Re:What version of autopilot? on Tesla Says Autopilot Was Engaged During Fatal Model X Crash (theverge.com) · · Score: 1

Maybe he should have upgraded to 8.2 beta instead. Christ.

  10. Re:Apple engineer on Tesla Says Autopilot Was Engaged During Fatal Model X Crash (theverge.com) · · Score: 2

Because he paid $120,000 for it. The real question is why is Tesla putting out a faulty expensive product and beta testing it on our roads?

Baloney. It is very deep learning driven by neural networks. Why do you think they call them neural nets? neural net=human brain. Now that computers have mastered Go and Chess, they are going to replace bartenders and programmers and lawyers. After all, my computer is much faster than the one that I had 20 years ago. It is inevitable.

  12. AI and deep learning neural networks perform better than humans. We all know this. After all "neural network" is like a brain, that is why they use those terms, and we all know that computers are faster than humans! Thus, "neural networks" must be better than the human brain. Since computers get better and better every year, it is inevitable. Computers play Chess and Go better than Grand Masters. Finally "deep learning" is really deep. You think you learned deep before? That is nothing like how deep these deep learning neural nets can get.

  13. Marketing on Adobe Is Helping Some 60 Companies Track People Across Devices (neowin.net) · · Score: 3, Insightful

  17. Yeah, why would anyone be upset over losing a subsidy when they can just go to Walmart and pay more? Seriously, what the F does this have to do with Walmart? Stupidity reigns.

  18. Cue, not "queue". So stupid. This isn't AI. It is just a program.

  25. Why are people conflating "automation" and "AI"? Why does Slashdot continue this myth and VC hype? There is no AI! There is automation.
