  1. Re:How is thrust obtained in a ramjet? on Second Hypersonic X43 Scramjet Ready for Testing · · Score: 1

I am among those who does not understand how a scramjet works. Could you please provide the "long answer" "it's just an action/reaction thing" I think is a little too short...

  2. Re:Nonsense... on How Spirit Takes Pictures · · Score: 1

Good to see one comment cut through the hype. These cameras appears to be many years old technology and not very sensitive. Having large pixels do nothing for rad-hard. Actually a drawback, as more of the image is damaged by radiation. Are there any real specs on these cameras, or just hype? Aperture, angular resolution, sensitivity, quantum efficiency, *price* and the parameters tested on any camera/lens reviewed for use here on earth.

  3. Climate change is peanuts on Climate Data Re-examined (updated) · · Score: 1

It is of course obvious that earth currently is in the middle of the most swift mass extinction ever seen. The loss of 90% of species when the dinosaus went extinct was gradual and small compared.

Human activity do of course affect the climate, and the Kyoto agreement was a spit in the bucket trying to just slow this down. Was is a 5% reduction in the annual increase? That is still an increase in emissions! It's a joke, and not even that are we able to do.

  4. Long term on MIT's Music Net Shut Down Over License Issues · · Score: 2, Insightful

For thousands of years, musicians played directly for people, and there was no "intellectual property". The law reflected reality.

Now RIAA have enjoyed a monopoly on recording equipment for nearly a century. Now that reality is over.
The law does not reflect today reality, and must change. (A little pain in the process)

Digitizing a performance is just like an open air concert: Everybody in the neigbourhood can hear it. Here the neigbourhood is the planet, and that is that.

  5. Re:Big Bang? on Big Bang Really a Big Hum · · Score: 1

Give me a break. Why does everything have to be "sound"?

The article says: "Cramer had to scale the frequencies 100,000 billion billion times"

    1. This number is not likely to be correct. It will take the tone more time than the current age of the univers to play a single oscilation.

    2. Is the 10000 year oscilation between ice ages on earth a sound? Well, then everything, and therefore nothing is a sound.

  6. Re:These seeds may not be planted REAL EXAMPLE! on Fight Woodworking Piracy: Add EULA Restrictions · · Score: 1

Worst example of EULA Peppadew is a trademarked life form. From http://www.peppadew.com/ "PEPPADEW(TM) International has registered plant breeders' rights internationally, so Sweet Piquante Peppers can only be grown under license from PEPPADEW(TM) International." "...This is because PEPPADEW INTERNATIONAL has international growing rights for Piquante Peppers and nobody else can grow them." and "The name PEPPADEW(TM) is a registered trademark which cannot be used as a descriptor (for example "PEPPADEWS" is incorrect and "PEPPADEW SOUP" is also incorrect) as this is a violation of our intellectual property rights"
