Back in November of '04 the RIAA petitioned to become a member of the Internet2 community. I don't know if they ever got their own network connection, but I remember them asking for one.
Yes, one end of the iPod cable is a standard FireWire connection that plugs into the power transformer, but the other end is a proprietary connection. The iPod it self can't use a standard FireWire cable. With the Blackberry or Motorola Razr any Standard USB to Mini USB cable will work.
I couldn't see it being that hard to do. I would probably use PHP and MySQL because they are pretty easy languages and are very flexable. If you know what you want in an application pick up a PHP book and start reading, that's how I learned.
I talked to an SBC employee who mentioned that they were testing fiber to the premise and he told me that they had an agreement in place with a Satellite provider to use all of their channels. It was a few months ago, so I can't remember exactly if it was DirectTV or Dish Networks but it was one of them. As of now SBC is doing some testing in south eastern Michigan in new communities.
I talked to a SBC employee who said that they are testing Fiber to the premises and providing phone, highspeed internet, and tv content from a satellite provider (Direct TV or Dish Network). They are testing it in new housing developments in Southeastern Michigan.

There is no fair-use of movies allowed under US law. According to Dan Ballard (who represented several people in their fight against the RIAA): "I don't know of any fair-use argument for downloading a movie, so the courts are going to be very receptive to the MPAA's cases where they may have been a little more reluctant with the RIAA's cases"
Yes, I was too. My last download (EVER) from Suprnova.org was at 5:00 this morning. When that one finished I went to download another and it couldn't connect to the tracker. Then the site became inaccessable later in the day and now there is a message on it stating that they don't ever intend on hosting torrents again.
I am the happy owner of a Nokia 6600 (I previously owned a Nokia 3650) I would like to see Minimo run on Symbian OS. It is very popular and there are many phones which use it. Currently I have Opera on mine, but I think that it would great to see an Open Source browser as a competitor.
Yes, the iPod can be used as an extrernal hard drive to transfer video files, but this article is explaining how to copy music off of the iPod. Even if you have your iPod setup as an external hard drive they somehow blocked windows from seeing the folder that contains all of the music on the iPod. Music can be copyed up through iTunes or MusicMatch (I think), but once it is on your iPod you can't get it back on your computer. My neighbor just got an iPod and their computer got a virus, and it wiped out Windows and they lost around $100 worth of music that they paid for and legally downloded through iTunes.
