  1. I don't like the GPL v3 draft on Debian Team Discusses GPLv3 · · Score: 4, Insightful

The definition of "illegal" in reference to spyware is potentially messy.

    1. Illegal usage will change over time, and vary quite widely across different jurisdictions. For example something as mundane as a web proxy log may be illegal depending on the context and jurisdiction.

    2. Restrictions on use in that it can not be an effective copy control mechanism.
the freedom to run the program for any purpose (called "freedom 0")
I understand the intent, however such a restriction IMAO violates a fundamental principal of free software.

This is a distinction ("noneconomical" vs "exhausted") without a difference.
There is a very important difference, exhausted means there is no more.
Uneconomical means it doesn't make sense to expend the resources for that particular use.

For example I would like an omlette, the supply of Dodo eggs is exhausted, so I can't have one.
The supply of bald eagle eggs is available, however it uneconomical for me, and most of the worlds population.
I will then have chicken eggs, which exist in vast quantities.

I won't be filing corrections because I think the current GPL v2 is good.

The GPL v3 draft adds stuff of little/no value, the only improvement I see to the draft is to throw it out and replace it with the current v2.
I'm likely part of a whiney minority of old farts who don't like change, so I'll shut up, use v2 and let the change = progress crowd play silly games.

Why do you think GM actively promotes their E85 options? (85% Ethanol)

As for competition, all companies work to differentiate their product in some way. Be it price, quality or functionality. They use tools such as volume production, brand names and trademarks, or patents.

Any company that is seeing the potential obsolescence should research and invest in next generation technology.

It's not as much of a conspiracy as logical planning.

For example Microsoft was correct to research the task switching and later multi tasking when single tasking operating systems became obsolete.
Today we get a huge amount of energy from oil, but this will stop. It's a good idea to invest those oil profits in the future alternatives so that they can continue their income as the world switches.

Some people complain that I should "support my company", but there is no legal requirement for me to.

Despite my lack of enthusiasm for the product, I still expect the management to run the company to the best of their ability, and quite honestly they are, I've made some very good money off it.
