Those are just 8 floppy drives playing music. This is a 49-floppy musical instrument which can be played in real-time by a pianist. That's quite the difference, and something you entirely failed to mention. I guess that would get in the way of Grumpy Old Man time, and take the wind out of you bitching about buzzwords and 3D-printing :)

I've read neither in about 20 years since taking a comparative religion class at school.

It's the same God in both the OT and the NT. I wonder why, when Christianity's holy book's text is looked at, people leap through hoops to try to break apart the trinity or add all sorts of explanations for the hideous, God-sanctioned behaviour, with the Qu'ran it's apparently a factual guide book and evidence that all Muslims are violent psychopaths. It's all bullshit. Most Christians don't live by the Bible just as most Muslims don't live by the Qu'ran.

But whatever. This discussion is pointless. Neither book is at all suitable for teaching how to behave to your fellow man.

This is all entirely irrelevant. If what you are saying is true, every Muslim on the planet must be frothing-at-the-mouth eager to kill everyone. Seeing as there are ~1.6 billion Muslims, even if 1% couldn't hold back and give in to their alleged intentions, there would be 16,000,000 million Muslims running around straight-up murdering people. Until that happens your argument holds no water. It's like standing outside in the middle of the day trying to argue that the sun exploded years ago. The evidence for you being wrong is all around us and staggeringly obvious.

No, he merely pointed out that if a religious book's violence is directly linked the adherents' violence, then all Christians would be out there murdering everyone just as bad as ISIS. As they are not, that is very strong evidence that the original claim is incorrect. That one point has nothing to do with religions, but is a simple logical explanation of why the original point was bogus.

But you are right - "racist" is not the correct term. I would choose "xenophobe", "bigot", or "scared little child lashing out at the world they are too ignorant of to understand".

  15. Re:Its funny on Secret Files Reveal UK Police Feared That Trekkies Could Turn On Society · · Score: 1

Yes, all Islamists are Muslim, but to turn against all Muslims because of the Islamists will cause even more Muslims to become fundamentalist, and deny you the one tool you should be clamouring to use to fight Muslim extremism - moderate Muslims. Your claims of the destruction caused by Islam also apply to Christianity, so you not mentioning that seems to cast doubt on the rational nature of your approach.

So you think those people represent the entire religion. No wonder you are so confused.

The only agenda in the media over that video is the desire to not show a brutal, graphic murder to people who might be flipping through channels. If you hadn't thought of that, I guess that says more about you than it does anything else.

Just like fundamentalists of every religion. Islam is not special in this regard. Read the Bible and see just how fucked up that book is, and try to understand how that appears from an outsider's perspective. So you are engaging in the exact lazy xenophobia the parent is. I've seen some of your more racist posts in the past, so it's no surprise you've chimed in here offering support for a serial bigot.

You go be scared of your own shadow, and the rest of the world will try to tidy up the mess caused by equally scared people as yourself.

My experience is rather large, and entirely inconsequential, as is yours. One is a bloody fool if they think they can extrapolate the workings of the world and the opinions of over a billion people from the handful of people he has chosen to be representatives of the group in question.

If Muslims are as scary as you say, there are two possibilities here: Either you are small minded or dead. As you are not dead, that is pretty good evidence that the 1.6+ billion Muslims haven't given in to their (according to you) innate desire to slay non-Muslims. That means you are, by your own argument, either a zombie or small minded. A small minded person would know enough about Islam, religion, and human tendency towards fanaticism to know that the highly-vocal Muslims you see on TV do not represent the much greater population of moderate Muslims, many of whom you wouldn't even recognise as being Muslim in the first place.

But whatever. Trying to talk to a small-minded person is never going to end well, as you clearly lack the capability of figuring this schoolkid-level stuff out. The fact you are harassing a bunch of people because you think they harass a bunch of people should make you think twice about your chosen approach to learning.
