It doesn't matter who you vote for, no-one will touch the patriot act. Anyone who goes for it will be branded unAmerican and removed from office, immediately. Remember - you're either with us or against us. That ideology won't be leaving Washington for a very long time.
You're really mistaken. The US is only as free as they tell you it is. Freedom in the US is being removed bit by bit. American freedom, as something better than any other country, is an absolute myth, and has been for decades. America is a country of lip-service, not substance. Just proclaiming America the land of the free doesn't make it so. The horrific record of civil and human rights abuses shows that freedom clearly isn't anything the American government truly values. Ask the next black person you see how free America is. Then, reflect on that very act happening in the US 60 years ago.
Of course it isn't! This had nothing to do with terrorism, not even remotely. It's not a case of people trying to sell pirate TV shows to fund bombings or anything. Just overzealous feds using every tool they have to take someone down. Sure, the guy was sharing full-length episodes of SG1, but to trash all his stuff was ridiculous. Fascists.
Yup - I saw that in action last week, with my 3g iPod. I was copying some stuff from it via USB2, and it was so freakin' slow. Copy ETA: 40 minutes. I unplugged, plugged the ipod into another computer via firewire, and copied the files over 100mpbs lan, in 7 minutes. USB2 is horribly slow, even if it can do 480mb/s on paper. Firewire not just can but DOES reach 400mb/s, every single time.
To me, OSX isn't intuitive at all. Not even the slightest. I guess that just shows that there really isn't such a thing as a globally-intuitive OS, just an OS that is intuitive to some of us.
Pocket PC PDAs have consumer-grade IR chips/LEDs in them these days, so they're great remote controls. They used to be crap a couple of years ago, when manufacturers were reluctant to break away from their IrDA implementations.
You've fallen into the new pseudo-science set, quite blatantly. You're not providing evidence for your school of thought, but trying to destroy a conflicting school of thought to make yours more believable. Simple matter of fact is, your theory is based on a book written by some people, ages ago. Just some guys. They wrote a book about some stuff, and now you're saying it's not only real, but everything all these scientists have been physically looking at and recording either didn't happen, or wasn't what it seemed. It's funny, as the scientists have cold, hard evidence, and the religious types have nothing but an old-ass book, and tales of a guy floating around on clouds. Calling it "creationist science" doesn't make it a science. I could call Playboy "Boob Science", but I won't expect it to be taught in school.
We watch evolution every day. We can see it happening all around us. We've watched tiny creatures like bacteria under the microscope for years. Their quick reproductive cycles show us evolution in action. These aren't things I read in a book written nearly 2,000 years ago, but things people still alive have not only seen, but recorded on video, and even released on the net.
I've got no problem with Christianity, but when it says it's science and demands to be taught in school as such, I have to step up. It's called a faith because you have to have faith in it. There's no way to prove it's right or wrong, which means it can't possibly exist in the realm of science. After all, science means "The observation, identification, description, experimental investigation, and theoretical explanation of phenomena". You can't observe, identify, describe, or perform experiments on God, you can only talk about him and pull stuff out of your collective ass. I mean, it's not exactly rocket science (no pun intended). I'd love to discuss this more with you:)
We're talking about compromised websites, and you go talking about a software problem (not a compromise) in a non-website product... 0 out of 2, which is kinda off-topic even by the most lenient of judgements.
No, I'm not talking about the popular vote - I know about the electoral college. You haven't mentioned the tens of thousands of voters fraudulently struck off the electoral roll in Florida, or all the cronyism in the vote-counting process. This has nothing to do with the electoral college, but of a swindling egomaniac stealing the presidency from the real winner. There's no way to defend Bush on this part, at all. Go look on the net.
You're using freerepublic.com as a source in your post. I've spokent to a bunch of guys from that site in person, and they're racist, selfish assholes, fyi. Kinda like citing kukluxklan.org - not very good for your credibility.
Yes, hook yourself up with Azureus, and head on over to suprnova.org. You can download correctly-tagged MP3/Ogg/Flac/Monkey full albums, in bittorrent form. Fastest and highest quality free music available:)
If it's a democracy, how the president didn't win the last election? Say what you want about lefty pinko commies, but the US clearly has democracy issues, the main one being it isn't one any more. Democracy means, basically, "governed by the people", whereas America's laws and regulations are geared towards only the rich, and corporations. If it truly was a democracy, there would be representation for minorities, and equal rights across the board. Everyone would have a chance to influence their leaders, not just those white guys with $100 bills in their top pockets.
Saying you'd rather live under the most despotic American leader than the most moderate Arab leader is just plain stupid, and shows you have an innate lack of knowledge about Arabian culture, and just what Bush and his cronies want to do. You're adding weight to the parent's argument by your sheer (and obvious) lack of knowledge about leaders the world over.
If you buy a Dell Axiom PDA, you can customise it using the same interface you customise desktops and servers - memory, batteries, wireless, etc. pretty cool:)
Did you stop to think if Sony wanted you to play Japanese games on your PS2, they'd let you? There's a good reason behind them not allowing you - they make their games for a specific market, and moving the product from one region to another (while seemingly innocuous to us) screws with a lot of their stuff. Staggered international releases, localisation issues, legal issues, etc. all come into play, and can land Sony in legal and financial hot water if the numbers are sufficient.
Sony aren't evil people (their games division, anyway). If it didn't hurt them, they'd make every PS2 play every PS2 game from anywhere in the world, out of the box.
I'm not arguing with you, I just think most people haven't thought about the issue enough from Sony's side. If it really would make them so much more money, why aren't they doing it? To purposely piss us off?:)
No, he used one of the most effective propaganda machines to sway the public's opinion. He didn't institute gun control in Poland, France, The Netherlands, Belgium or Austria, and they all got taken. Your logic doesn't stand up to much scrutiny at all. Maybe you should think for yourself, and not let the NRA do the thinking for you.
TERRORIST! HELP! CALL THE POLICE!!!
stupid anti-lameness filter. where was it when the patriot act was being ratified?
Maybe it's time for the next revolution?
Free is one thing the US is not.

Libertarians are just republicans who don't like the word "republican". sheesh. libertarians are the same as all the other politicians.
I seriously hope you were joking with that post :-P

ATMs in the UK still operate that way - you have to take your card before your money. I prefer it that way :)
Independence Day. When the President gave that shit-awful speech, the whole cinema burst out laughing. Horrible US masturbation movie.

Not always DSL - there are still plenty about with normal modems in them. If the shop's quiet, you can sometimes hear the tones going down the line :)
The proprietary model also included a "fat profit" stage, not found in the open source model :)

You already have at least one national ID card - your drivers license. Two, if you have a passport. It's already happened.
