You sound like a well-educated 8-year-old arguing why his country is the bestest in the world - lots of hyperbole, lots of massive (incorrect) generalizations, and dripping with conjecture. You're not making a very compulsive argument, but you are showing everyone just how ill-informed you are about the country you live in, and how quickly you will form an opinion with the scantest of evidence or opinion.

Just to illustrate the above point, I am a relatively-young European, and have plenty of young European friends who would not like a car, even if it was entirely free. There just is no point for us, as public transport is great, and should we need a car/van/whatever, we can rent one at a cheap price.

So no - plenty of people don't want cars, regardless of whether they were free or not. Bizarre, I know, but it's reality.

Until you can quantify precisely the damage done to small shops versus the other parts of a city which affect its soul, you can't draw any conclusions. Well, you appear capable of doing so, but said conclusions are without merit.

The order they are listed in dictionaries is arbitrary, but each dictionary usually has its own system. The one you chose has the oldest definitions first, hence it being on top.
