    Well, if you like going to those sites, it does become your problem as the more people who block ads, the less revenue they generate, and then their content will start to get worse, and eventually they'll disappear. It's not that I don't generally agree with you, but that point is clearly false.

    There are plenty of sparsely-populated public transport networks which have great service. Systems based on the "Karlsruhe" system service cities and provide links to other cities in the area, and the countless small towns in the countryside between. It sounds like Texans can't figure this stuff out, but others have for decades.

    You really have no idea, do you? Do you assume the world ends where your perception of it does? There are plenty of places all over the world (some even in the US!) which have wonderful public transport that provides faster journeys than by car, and is convenient. Your tax comment is a bit weird, as taxes go in to maintaining the road infrastructure for private drivers as well.

    You seem to be confusing your broken, dysfunctional part of the world with the entire world. This is going to blow your mind, but some places have great health certification, and great taxis. Those are the places which are fighting companies which seek to decrease the standard by which they do business.

    Or because they're developing an automotive computing system which is intended to be able to replace an entire dashboard should the market want. It needs this data to function properly. If it was just a dumb music player/gps system you'd have a point, but as it isn't, you don't have a point.

    "The next thing you know" - so you are merely guessing. If Google is making an automotive operating system, it makes sense that they'd want that data. Google should be asking for this stuff, as it's needed by their OS to provide car-centric apps with car-centric data. It's a lot more than just an audio entertainment system, which you know if you've read anything about what they're doing.

    Your idea of a stupid feature is someone else's idea of a great feature. You are not the arbiter what what is useful or useless, sucky or awesome.

    Europe is a large place, so making massive generalisations like that is very likely going to make you wrong. As I have had excellent taxi service across Europe, I can't agree with your claims, and I guess my anecdote disproves your assertion.

    It's not overpriced, and anyone can become a minicab driver if they wish - the barriers are not stiff at all. If you are a business traveler, you'd hail a black cab instead of a minicab and none of this will be of any concern to you - no app needed at all, except to stand next to the road and raise your hand.

    Clearly you don't understand London and its taxi system, but don't let that stop you!
