We're going on holiday tomorrow. Girlfriend has an iPod mini. She installed iTunes on her work laptop. Her work laptop is locked up at work.
Tonight? She thought she'd put a few CDs onto her iPod and installed iTunes on a PC at home and synced it. Unfortunately it synced the 'no music' to her iPod, which means she's now in the other room, pissed off and busy ripping her CDs back to the iPod.
And here I am copying files to my 4 year old Archos MP3 player, by simply 'dragging and dropping'. How quaint.
Actually, O2 in the UK and Ireland offer a music download service for their XDA 2 phone and the Siemens SX1 phone (S60 based symbian phone). They have around 130,000 tracks for sale at the moment. With more and more phones supporting this kind of thing I can really see the telcos embracing this market. How long before the first one gets in bed with Apple?
It is based on a coin-op.
Puzzle Bobble, or Bust-a-Move depending where you are playing it, a classic NEO-GEO game from the 90's. And having it on my debian based advancemame arcade machine I can say its probably twice as addictive as Frozen Bubble!
Well Freevo uses mencoder out of the box for recording (although you can of course change this) and you can also use tvtime as a plugin to watch tv so I don't understand what you don't like about it. The menus are fast, it has a web server which I use to record stuff when I am at work and you can pretty much use any media recorder/player you like as a plugin.
I'm running Freevo on an Athlon 2400+, using a dxr3 card for the tv out and wow, is it so much better than a normal graphics card. The dxr3 support is why I chose Freevo over MythTV. I record with mencoder, playback video files with mplayer and play DVD's with fbxine. I'm very happy with it!
I'm afraid your argument is fundamentally flawed. The problem being that it is not normally cheaper to rent a place than buy a place (at least where I live).
At the moment if I rented out my property it would just about cover the mortgage. Ten years down the line? Well I expect the rent will more than cover the mortgage and give me a lot extra to save. Rent changes - if you have a fixed rate mortgage as I have this doesn't change.
How much do you think the $500 property in your example will be renting for in 5 or 10 years?

Before the cell phone thing, did people really carry around a telephone all the time?

Are you going to apologise to Netgear or just pretend you didn't mention them in your previous post?

"You don't get out much, do you? I know a number of people that have gigabit networks in their homes (including mine), much less at work."
And you say *he* doesn't get out much?
