Tried it a few times and this service was pretty useless in Hawaii. Goog-411 had issues with local city, business, and non-american restaurant names - not to mention the free entertainment you give to friends and passers-by when you intentionally butcher the pronunciation of places in an attempt to get the computer to recognize what you're saying on the second pass.

ok, I'm basing this off of an anecdote/tech story I've read off slashdot or some text file long ago, but from what I remember ping can be roughly translated to distance by using some formula referencing speed of light. Now expanding on this, get 3+ users in surrounding states to ping this IP and have them give their geolocation. draw circles from these points and see if you can find any intersections, you might get a rough idea where the person is, perhaps what county they're in.

perhaps this is why I trust google over the other search engines, less bloat..

but with that being said, does that mean I trust microsoft now that their search engine looks almost exactly like google's?
