  1. Never used it on Next-Gen Xbox To Lack Backwards Compatibility? · · Score: 1

I have the PS1 and the PS2 and I must admit I never had any desire to play my PS1 games again. Guess I'm one of the consumers who rather buy/rent something new than play a old game that I already spent hours on.

To all the people who beta tested COH, do you think the combat system dicates a fast paced pvp battle or do you think it can achieve strategic paced pvp battle? After testing the game it feels like it might become a 15-20 sec battle on a 1 on 1 basis. I would like to see 2-3 minute battles myself.

Keyword=100,000 in your argument. Thats alot to try to keep over a six months period, alot of MMO haven't been able to do it. Now no one is forcing you to buy it and paying the monthly fee but the market justifies the price. It would take them that long to recoup the development cost. "The problem is...there's no publisher alive that will ever release that information to the general public" It is possible for find out how much some games were developed by going to Gamasutra and read their articles, plus there are game design/programming books that are available to the genral public that have this information. EQ roughly cost $10 mil by the way. Also some GDC presentation are available showing the monthly costs. But of course they are going to make money off their hardwork. Do you blame them for that? . "Don't compare prices to other types of entertainment, compare prices to other GAMES!!" And why not? People are saying that $15 is alot for a game. Its not just a game its also a service. $15 is nothing, if I know I'm going to have good service and have a good time when I want to play. If it cost too much for you then don't pay it but if I pay that much I'm expecting some premium service. And I will close my account if the service sucks. "I hate you and everyone like you. Are you insane?" Same to you.

Look I apologize for my obvious bitchiness but no I do not work for NCsoft. I have been working for another company doing an MMO. I am quite impressesed that NCsoft did bow down to pressure of a minority thats wants PvP when they are not ready for it. Plus I have played all the PvP games and had a great time with them. But in reality no one and I mean no one has really done it right. Usually its a balance issue or its lag. Either way no can say they made a well done PvP MMO game IMO. And yes people can comment all they want about features in a game but I'm also allowed to comment on people responses am I not. I did not mean to be rude but I guess it came out that way and I apologize. But please don't say a game going to bomb becuase it does not appeal to you. EQ is the most successful MMO out there and its not a PvP game.

Uhh development cost to recoup and servers farms to maintain, hullo? I don't know where you get your numbers from but it cost's alot. Plus they have a live team on staff thats always adding new content which needs to be tested by a staff of testers. Plus all the admin and associated buisness cost. Plus $15 a month is not really alot. Thats 3 movies rentals which will entertain you approx 6 hours while you could easily get that in two days of playing a fun game. I know there is Netflix which is $20 but its just a point I'm making. Plus most game life span are 3-5 months if they are really good that cost $50. There are exceptions but most games don't have the longevity as MMO's. But you have to like MMO's and lot of people do and thats why the market is getting saturated with them.

Now when you RP'ed an evil theif, you would still fight against the same mobs as a good theif would to level, is that correct? I assume so since I have played almost all the MMO's and never seen any other concept. Now what are the villains supposed to level against? Bank tellers and 7-11 clerks? Or would there be NPC heroes they would level off? It just doesn't make sense on what a villian would do to level, since all Super Heroes in the game are PC's. You as a villian would be constantly Pvping or fighting really lame mobs. Sure it would be cool if they had PvP. I like PvP in SB, UO, AO, DAOC, and SWG but really nobody has ever done it very well. Games that have PvP usually has everybody crying Nerf. I know most games cry Nerf but it especially is more abundant in PvP games.

Go play Lineage 2. The company chose what they wanted to do and they did it. If you can make a better game then do it. Don't say that a game needs something unless you have ever designed one. Some game needs PvP, some don't.

I agree with Grim. Its better buisness to bring it out as expansion and focus first on the Hero aspect. Better design always wins, if the devs and designers had to work on the pvp balance it probably would add another year to dev time.

Cryptic has been developing this game for a while and have not rushed it to market. Their designers seem to know whats the correct way implement this game, so give them a chance before you say they blew it. They have said they needed to focus in on the hero aspect first before they could implement player controlled villians. Beside what great business it would make for an expansion called City of Villans.
