The U.S. has a compulsory education system funded mostly through federal and local taxes. They are more often than not government employees. That said, "Separation of Church ans State" is a case law stance, not a codified one. The Constitution states that Congress shall make no law regarding the establishment of religion, i.e. no "official" government religion... There is also a concept of freedom of speech.
My largest issues are as follows, LJ subscriber for 5+ years now... I don't own a tablet, and don't like reading on a desktop/laptop... I've been waiting for a good enough tablet that doesn't seem like gouging. I might do a rooted nook color though. For the most part I'm disappointed, but not surprised. I may not renew, will need to see an issue or two, see how they work (bu commentary) for various devices... if they're formatted well for on-screen, will see.
I don't really mind Steam... better profile integration in more games so your save points are in steam would be cool. I'm not a fan ofDRM, but when it works, is transparent, and makes the buying, installing and play easier... not a huge deal. Though, I don't play much.
Honestly, I've been fairly content with Lenovo for higher end, and Acer or Asus for low-end. The last several tiems I bought HP, they cost more than the equivalent Acer or Asus and the build quality was no better.
I really hate that HTML5 is just lumped together as some abstract term for modern web development techniques. Most of which doesn't use the new tahgs (audio, video, canvas) and other tags are used in place of div.class which is nice enough, and does give some context... To my CSS3+ is the key here. JavaScript libraries have come a long way, and a few nice features are now native.
I've been running a Samsung Galaxy Prevail for a few months now, upgraded from my G1, which was way long in the tooth. I don't really use the smart phone functionality much at all, mainly use it for calling/texting and now will sometimes check in on G+. I appreciate that most apps run, but needed a 3rd party mod to reduce the bloat that Samsung/Boost included on this phone. ShabbyMod did that, I do hope for a Cyanogenmod release though, as Shabby isn't much more than stock android, but works quite well.
I think it really depends on what you are trying to build... if you want something that fits more precise specs, you are unlikely to even match off the shelf equivalents. Even building a PC at near what some of the OEMs do is difficult, and pretty much impossible in the low-mid range if you include a $100 OEM license. Making a table/couch/cabinet will often cost more in materials alone, let alone time, and investment in equipment needed. Having a hobby, or being an enthusiast doesn't mean it's less expensive. Often times its several times more expensive. Now value and craftsmanship are another issue entirely, but from a utilitarian standpoint it's hard to match OEMs, flat pack furniture (IKEA), the big box stores (Best Buy) and the uber-markets (Wal-Mart).
Thank you... I so wish I had mod points... it's been globally warming for a few thousand years now.. who cares why.. can we live/adapt to the changes? and can we slow/revert said changes... those are the questions to ask.
I like the Architect point of view, that it must first function, but aesthetics are very important as well. Striking a balance in an elegant way is the most impressive, imho.
What sites are you going to where your browser is soaking 7GB... I've never seen FF run over 800MB, though that is too high imho. However, never really had an issue with it, though I've been using Chrome as my primary for about a year.
No, bu your cheeks glow when you shine a flashlight in your mouth... Not saying this at all credible, and if it were why the ear would be better than the nostrils.
But you shouldn't be able to patent designs or algorithms; only non-obvious advances in a given technology, with a physical specification... Apple simply didn't do that.
It's actually kind of a shame that XUL didn't take off... What I'd love to have is a remote hosted version of Thunderbird... I have my tbird profile sync via DropBox now, but when I forget to close it on one computer, it really mucks things up. I have several IMAP accounts which aren't so bad, it's the 2-3 NNTP accounts that are the problem...
There's not much difference between a 17yo, and an 18yo... imho neither is more/less likely to do much of anything. For that matter, there's not much difference from 16yo to 17yo... etc... it not a black/white cut and dry issue here.
I don't really have a problem with third party CAs, I do have a problem with the "trust" levels, and beyond this, so long as the IP, and cert match the last time you communicated with a server, that is generally "secure enough" for anything not dealing with a financial transaction.
I don't think third party verification is stupid, though verisign etc charge way too much, it should be under $10/year... I use StartCom's free SSL for a couple domains, the only annoyance is annual expiration, which is tolerable. I think the excessive warnings are over the top... having it tell you with an okay/cancel dialog the first time you connect that the cert is self issued, then warn if it changes more than a month before expiration (in case of MITM attack (open hotspot yassiger pineapple type devices).
Also, one cert per IP is a pain with IPv4 and shared hosting, but IPv6 will resolve that issue. (eventually).
Or supporting the use of tear gas and flash grenades... IIRC there was a fair amount of research in terms of using sound cannon type devices to incapacitate as well...
Then why not adults too... it isn't like adults are incapable of thuggery. I mean there are plenty of muggings that are perpetrated by adults, so why not a curfew for everyone... Papers please!

In a lot of programs it's CTRL+H

I've got some blank punch cards... seriously though, when I was a kid we had to make our own stains to write on cave walls... get off my rocks!

I'd be happy to make it to the top10%

The U.S. government, emphatically the military, doesn't need to license jack... the military contractor providing the jeeps on the other hand...
Been using StartCom (free) for a few years now myself.
here you go :)

Umn, Friday or Saturday night? Many of the places teens work, such as Fast Food, or Movie Theaters are open well passed Midnight on those two nights.
