Tech TV has some great shows and a tradition of advocating Linux (and Mac, BSD, ect...) and OSS, they also offer consistently objective product reviews, but 3 or 4 strong shows 3 tech/journalism shows and 22 robot war, spy school assorted crap shows do not make up a 24 hr cable channel. Well actually they do but not a really go one. I've never watched G4 and Tech TV already has a pretty good gaming show but maybe combining the 2 could make for a stronger more consistently watchable tech channel (god knows my wife would just love that).
On the other hand Comcast would probably put their people in charge and as pointed out earlier Microsoft owns a chunck of Comcast, so we could see the only channel on cable that has some Linux/OSS programming become Redmond poster boys.
I agree that there's much TOO much SCO sucks this and Linux rules that and I'm not trying to get into that debate but when someone says OSS can't/won't work because of price they're missing the point.
OSS won't liberate the down-trodden, it's only SOFTWARE, but the idea behind it, free, free, freedom, well that idea made America and I kind of dig that place.
I think you're missing the point of OSS/Free Software, it's not how much money it costs (yeah, yeah free as in beer) it's how they could change it to suit their needs, lifestyle, culture (free as in freedom). In fact this is the perfect place for OSS/Free Software, it gives them the power to change something!
High level tech/IT jobs are outsourced to civilians so go to school and learn lots and one day you can write programs for Uncle Sam.
Low level tech/IT are done in house, these guys do the tech equivalent of changing lightbulbs.
Not a diss just the truth.
