No, their is a big difference here. First, when you are racing, you traveling at fairly high rates of speed which require more protection (roll cages, fire suits, neck braces, etc). Furthermore, professional drivers know how to drive, and they know what to expect. They know when a guy is going to attempt a pass and isn't going to sideswipe them on accident.
Cast of The Simpsons gets quite a bit of cash per episode. Yeah, they've been doing this for a while, and The Simpsons is a well entrenched money-making show, but so is the GTA series. For approximately 30 minutes of VO work, a cast member of The Simpsons will make a couple hundred thousand. The cast are not "big name" actors really. People don't watch The Simpsons for Hank Azaria or Dan Castellanata. Why shouldn't a VO in a video game be paid on a similar scale?
Some of the PS3 games are also using torrents to seed updates to games, like MGS4 online. That game is going to be HUGE (granted, it probably won't be as big as WoW, but it'll still piss off a bunch of people)
You know what I would like? Ability to use the LCD as a viewfinder. That would be a slick hack. Granted, I prefer using the viewfinder, but for certain angles, the screen would be much nicer (without having to buy an angled viewfinder)
I don't think it was a sucker punch really. They bumped the bid up there because that's what they wanted, but if they ended up getting "stuck" with it, they may have been a little upset, but I can guarantee you they would've come up with something to take advantage of it.
FirstlyThe question is whether the vendors must collect those taxes on behalf of the state. Generally, only those companies that have a physical presence, such as an office or store, in the state of the purchase are required to collect the taxes.
By have a physical presence in NY, I'm deriving benefits from the state; Amazon without a physical presence in NY receives no state benefits and should not have to work as the states agent withput consideration. First, I congratulate you on you being one of the few that understood that properly. Second, if you don't collect for them, they have every right to bar you from doing business in their state.
No, no it's not. See, as a seller, you don't "owe" money to the state of New York. The people who bought something from you owe the money, and you are the intermediary that makes sure that money gets to the state of New York. Doesn't matter if you are a citizen, you aren't the one paying taxes. You sold to someone in New York who is a citizen, and therefore they owe the taxes. New York is kindly asking your help in collecting that money because the buyer is not reporting as they should according to the Use tax. So stop your bitching. They are not levying taxes on non-NY citizens, only NY citizens, and asking you to help them collect the tax. If you don't, then NY can do the same to you as they do to anyone else that actually resides there, and bar you from doing business in their fair state. That's their right.
No, you cannot. The wood was 2 x 4 in its rough and green state, and after its been finished and dried, it is now smaller than before. That's just the way wood is, and it's understood. For instance, if you buy 4/4 wood, it should be 1" thick, but you'll only get that if its rough. When you buy it and it's been surfaced on two sides, you'll actually have something that is 7/8. It's just something that is understood in the wood world.
What are you on? Non A-series paper follows similar conventions. A3 == 2 pieces of A2 side by side. 11 x 17 (i.e "Tabloid/Ledger" or ANSI B) == 2 pieces of "Letter" (i.e. ANSI A) side by side. A4 = 2 pieces of A3 on top of each other. ANSI C == 2 pieces of ANSI B on top of each other. the conventions are the same.
I could complain, but what good does it do. I pay taxes to pay for what we need in America, not for what I need. And that's a problem. Who determines "need"? Whose need? Why should anyone else's "need" be placed above yours? Doing things based off of "need" is a horrible way of determining who should get what. What's to stop people from changing their lives in a negative fashion to show that they have more "need" than their fellow man, thereby receiving a cut of the pie?
That's like saying everything is 50:50...either you have the winning lottery ticket, or you don't. Go run a simulation and you will see that it works out.
Just out of curiosity, how do you get to choose where you file your lawsuit? Don't you have to conduct business there, or have a headquarters there, or something along those lines? I mean, couldn't I sue my neighbor, and file it in another state in hopes that my neighbor won't want to deal with interstate trial issues and, in a way, force a default on my behalf, or maybe a settlement?
When those criminal organizations are involved in violence and stealing money, sure. When those investigations nail people for trafficking in marijuana and send them off to jail for a few decades, not so much. Which is what much if not most of what undercover work is: busting non-violent drug users or traffickers. You know, whether or not you agree with the particular infractions involved, it's still breaking the law. You don't like the laws, move, you've got that right, there are over 200 other countries in this world that might be able to help you out in some way or another. Don't want to move you say? Well, then follow the laws. Simple as that. You have an obligation to your country to follow the laws of it. Don't agree? Well, I'm going to go out on a limb and say your are from the U.S. Notice how every citizen that is naturalized is required to take an oath that says they will uphold the laws of this country? That applies to you too, even if you weren't naturalized. Like I said, don't like it, move.
It doesn't matter if you are the Pope or Ms. Manners if you have an aggressive cop looking for a power trip. And there are a lot of aggressive cops in this country. I'd imagine that it at least in part comes from having to deal with people that treat them like shit day in and day out, including yourself? How about treat them with a little respect and maybe it'll help reduce the aggression in cops. Seriously, it's not hard. It's not groveling. I've gotten pulled over about once a year, and you know what, most of the times I've been let off with warnings. It's not hard. You don't have to completely lose yourself. Just treat them with respect. Hell, treat every single person you meet with respect and it'll help to make this world quite a bit better.
You know, if you act polite, the chances of getting a "contempt of cop" arrest are a lot lower. Who cares if they are powertripping. Take it up by filing a formal complaint. Your main goal should be to be pulled over for as a little time as possible. See, this is your problem. Instead of going about things properly, you are instead giving the cop a hard time. Maybe he deserves it, but how about go about things properly and file a complaint. What will getting defensive with a cop cause but problems for yourselves and/or passengers?
You know what I find hard to believe? That you are completely innocent. Seriously, you had to have done SOMETHING to get the cops to point rifles at you or get arrested. That doesn't just happen.
There's a start. Not encouraging that it seems to be Windows Mobile, and the entire site appears to be Flash (so I can't see it)... Ok, if you don't want WM, then just use a Jitterbug. And you can't see Flash? What are you surfing in, Lynx? Seriously, you are now just bitching to bitch if a Flash website and a WM phone don't suit you. You want an open platform, WM fits the bill for as far along as you are probably going to get in the cellphone world.
ou see, I can still run Cygwin or MinGW on Windows, and there are third-party compilers. Not so with the iPhone -- I'm not sure if it's even illegal, but it certainly requires more than simply writing the software. And how did those 3rd party compilers come about? Someone wrote them. So why don't you go write a third part compiler for the iPhone. You don't know how? Well, tough cookies. That's not Apple's problem.
they are actively hindering. Would you say the same thing if they didn't release an SDK at all? Just because they didn't give it to you doesn't mean they are actively hindering. In which way is Apple hindering? All they are saying is you can't use their SDK to do certain things. Big deal. Do I hear you crying foul about XNA, PS3 development, Verizon GIN? Apple is not hindering things such as jailbreak. Yeah, they fixed a couple of security holes, but notice how the latest update still allows for the jailbreak to work? I'd imagine if Apple was "actively hindering", then jailbreak would be cut off after every single firmware update, which is just not how it is.
Find me something comparable -- even a fair bit worse -- and I'll buy it. HTC Touch/
Bullshit. GE doesn't put a bunch of general-purpose computing hardware in there, and then use DRM to (try to) prevent me from putting my own software on it. And the problem with this is what exactly? Quite a bit of electronics out there do the same (game consoles, cellphones, remote controls......). There is nothing wrong with it. People have found a way around it in the case of the iPhone. Why does Apple get a bad rap for this yet you don't cry out against the others?
Ok, your point is completely stupid. No one has said that you can't run Java, Firefox, or even Windows on the iPhone. There's nothing stopping you. Go for it. The only problem you are going to face is trying to install it on the iPhone because Apple has said "Don't expect us to help you." So, if you develop your app AND come up with a way of installing it, you are more than welcome to. Hell, apps have been made already without Apple's permission using jailbreak. They haven't stopped anyone yet and they won't, because it is YOUR hardware. But, if you screw your iPhone up, that's your problem. It seems that everyone is missing this point. Apple, first and foremost, is not required in any way, shape, or form, to create an SDK for other people to use. No one is stopping you. Hell, make your own iPhone SDK and sell it (or give it away). I'm sure you could make a million bucks doing so. So come on! Go out there and make your million bucks!

Why not show the histogram on the LCD though?

How did Linksys cripple the 54G? IIRC, they came out with the 54GL variant to keep the hacker crowd happy.
I don't think it was a sucker punch really. They bumped the bid up there because that's what they wanted, but if they ended up getting "stuck" with it, they may have been a little upset, but I can guarantee you they would've come up with something to take advantage of it.

Ok, maybe not Mach 2, but you want boots that can let you keep your altitude constant, or even increase it? Here ya go Few years old too.

Seriously...run a simulation and the answers will be revealed. It's quite simple.
Just use a bubble out of the game "trouble" and hook up a camera.

People have been making apps for the iPhone without Apple's help so far, so no, you are not entitled to use Apple's SDK.
