Really? You think if Coca-Cola doens't have a FB account their in trouble? How about Exxon, Honeywell, Boeing, or BofA?
You can't be serious. Heck, most of those companies don't even deal with you and me, and instead do nothing but service other large coporations....
I guess it depends on what type of person you are. If you are/were a friend of mine, and we've just naturally fallen out of touch, that's just the way it is. If I really was dying to get back in touch with you, I wouldn't have fallen out of touch in the first place. I have a small handful of friends. Hell, I could count it on a hand or two. The difference is that any one of these friends can be called up at a moments notice and they will help a brother out. And there is reciprocity to that as well. I guess as I get older, and have a family, etc., hanging out with friends kind of falls by the wayside, and that's ok with me. Some friends end up fading away, and that's just the natural ebb and flow of life....
I think that having a presence on facebook, twitter, etc., can be beneficial to many companies. But none of those companies are the types that should worry about blocking access, etc. Being on facebook isn't going to make or break a Fortune 500 compnay...
It depends on network effects. Are many of your friends/family using Facebook? If so, it might be polite to them if you were to sign up.
Polite to them?! Umm...i'm close enough (not in the geographic sense) to my friends and family that when we want to talk, hang out, or get together, we use that crazy new invention called the telephone. You might not have heard of it, as it's a fairly new thing....
No one is watching, and no one is showing up to PLAY in the games either. Some of the athletes have flat out refused to show up due to the conditions of the athlete housing. Not to mention outbreaks of dengue fever going around right now, and specially built bridges collapsing, the games are turning into a disaster for India.
How much is a pay-per-episode of a TV show on iTunes? Isn't it like $1.99? You get to skip all of the commercials, right? Isn't that the equivalent of $2/episode?
This isn't that outrageous.
Actually, I had to call up to dispute a data charge on my wife's phone.
Despite actually going onto the web site earlier this year and completely BLOCKING all data/web access to the phone, last month there was a data charge. The VZ tech tried to argue with me saying that even if I didn't have a plan, data could still be charged. I then told her I set up a BLOCK on all data. Looking deeper into my account, she saw the block that had been put in place, and she was completely flummoxed how I would get charged a $1.99 data fee, despite the phone being INCAPABLE of sending/receiving data.
In the phone world you rarely have "choice" and as the parent mentioned, most carriers will lock you into something you don't want.
For example, Verizon/Samsung have decided that Bing should be the search engine of choice on their smart phones. Not exactly a big deal, except there is absolutely NO way to change it over to Google, if you so desire.
I can see the same thing here. Amazon/Verizon ink a deal, and all VZ phones now ship with the default Amazon market, and Google Market is no where to be found.
If you actually had a choice, then I don't have a big problem for allowing multiple markets, search engines, etc. Sure, it brings confusion, but in this case, the "choice" isn't yours...it's the handset and service provider making that choice for you.
How is a ROM management app encouraging piracy?
I use Koush's ROM Manager to install (and keep up to date), my install of Cyanogen Mod for my droid. Where's the piracy? Cyanogen had an issue with Google a while back, but they've both come to a reconciliation that works well for both parties, and no piracy of google's apps are taking place.
My biggest issue is that BofA charges you fees for every last little thing you could ever imagine. Don't keep at least $300 in your savings account? That's a $5/month fee. My credit union only requires me to keep $25 and ING allows me to keep $0.
It's called shared branching. Pretty much every credit union lets you use ATMs of other credit unions across the country. If you look on an ATM and it has the co-op logo, you're good

Tis a sad fact....I remember our local independent station here played all sorts of stuff. New, local, up and coming, along with a good mix of the old. Last few years it has turned to crap, playing nothing but Nirvana and Pearl Jam with a slight, slight smattering of anything new.
More to your point, the Nexus One has FM on its chip, and Google just decided to turn off the software hooks for it. Some guys have got it working, but it could very easily still fit with a new law, depending on how it is written.
Here's the thing though, you also have super mega corporations on the other side that are vehemently against this. The fact that CEA knows about this and is already speaking out should give you some hope. In this instance, you have mega corporations fighting on your side against mega corporations that aren't on your side. Both parties have plenty of cash to come to the table. Apple, Google, Microsoft, Samsung, HTC, Motorola, Nokia, Verizon, ATT, TMobile and Sprint could all potentially be against this. NAB and RIAA for. I'll take the technologists in this one.
I do have an interesting question...let's say that this somehow passed, and they were mandated to put FM radio tuners into all phones. I could easily see that the manufacturers would have FM on their chips, but either A) Turn off the capability to use it (like the Nexus One) or B) Make teh FM reception so piss-poor as to be near useless. The manufacturers could point and say "Look, we put em in there, you never said anything about making them work, or even work well. Sorry"
Was a few years back, and involved you getting into an accident and having the car fly up off the track, and pirouette in the air fr 15 minutes as it fell through the scenery and everything spun around you....hopefully it's been much improved since then.
Agreed. My 4 dogs always are sleeping (like any dog), but at even the slightest whisper you see their eyes open slightly, and they glance around. Dogs sleep fairly light.
Putting the Ford Fiesta on the table immediately destroys the comparison. American automakers view
economy vehicles as just a means to get to a cheap frontend pricetag. They are crap cars that tend
to implode as soon as their warranty expires and are not likely to make it to 10 years on the road
like a Mazda or Toyota.
I think you should look into the Ford Fiesta again. By MANY account it is not some "crap" car as most little cars are. It's got quite a bit going for it.
Then take a step outside at noon
The British in WWII set their clocks two hours ahead all year long to save on scace resources in order to defeat national socialism.
So why not just leave it that way if you can save resources?

Is it time to get a Facebook Account?

Uh, no you don't need 50/month subscription for googletv.

The nice thing with the Dish interface is that you can search your DVR, as well as the program guide, and setup recordings, etc.

You forgot to throw in the part where I argue that correlation != causation

This is from what, Thursday? Friday? Geeze....catch up guys.
+1 Do you have a newspaper to which I can subscribe? What is the name of your new political party so I know what to call myself?
