There are very little costs for keeping and distributing the ebook to the customer. Even if sales are low, B and N still makes a profit because the author/pubisher is the only one they have to pay, and they only pay them if they sell ebooks.
with this kind of scheme, it would be hard not to make money
Promote it as a feature to the common internet users. Many people would love to get additional service at no additional cost. People who want their ports will keep them.
