    support costs, you will have far fewer people calling in twice a month yelling for an hour because "you bastards sent me another virus!!!!!!!!"

    by putting out a new line that is targetted towards the top % of computer literate they stand to make some serious bank as long as enough people buy these things.

    more than half, probably far more than half, of support calls are due to user error, often stupid user error.

    It isn't far outside the ability of the human eye. the human eye can see ~300k colors, while 18bit monitors only can show ~250k.

    everyone who paid for a 24bit monitor was harmed because they were defrauded.

    4 times as likely is meaningless, the likely hood of any particular person being a molester is very low, so 4 times very low is still very low.

    the important statistic is how likely any given sex offender is to do it again. that likelyhood is 2.5%

    binding arbitration clauses have no effect on criminal prosecutions, and it's unlikely that a judge will enforce the binding arbitration clause in a civil case since it's simply a consumer service. the customer has no reasonable expectation to be stuck in arbitration over a billing issue.

    by coding for cross platform they also insulate themselves from windows API changes, and allow compiling for mac OSX, and possibly for consoles.

    Epic puts out linux versions of unreal tournament and that doesn't lose them any money.

    because a huge number of screens also have speakers in them, and those speakers are used in place of a more expensive sound system.

    if a sound system is used, it's still better to route the signal through the TV so you can control the volume with the same remote as the TV.


    personally i would prefer a communication standard so the TV could tell the amp to lower or raise volume, and the sterio could send a menu interface to the TV for controls, but that will probably never happen since every manufacturere will want to do it "their" way.
