Cheap doesn't mean bad, I have had excellent results with Durabrand CD-R media that i got at walmart (first time was $20 for a 100 pack) kept buying them after noticing how near indestructable they were
Well, UT actually has a very large benefit for having a legal copy, Online Play. No CD Key No master server. and fuck the RIAA i don't even download their crap anymore, I buy non-RIAA CD's all the time though.
actually windows does get fucked up if you are usinf non-Directsound apps, (usually compensating for an applicatioln crashing directX but not wanting to reboot the system) when trying to get multiple "wave out" mode sound apps working together windows has isses too
U3D will get a head start due to early release and saturate the market with crappy files while formats with better compression and quality are ignored by the public because "it's good enough"
well, I only mentioned OS X bcause you im[plied that Windows is the most usable OS, it is not. Do you know what CLSID is, 'cause MS uses 'em in the registry, seemingly to ensure that nobody can manually clean up an older system "hmm, is it safe to remove {479AF32D7-35CDE4} or do i need it?"
The problem isn't that you can't get another browser, the problem is that you can't safely remove IE from windows. The problem i have with office is the way they have used it to choke out competition and even went as far as spreading anti OO.o FUD
Remember that any language unable to access.NET goodies such as garbage collection is going to be quickly marginalised
or how about not writing code that shits all over the place to begin with.
I did not mean that to be derogatory towards foreign programmers, it has alot more to do with the fact that it is hard to translate needs from english.buisness to english.programming. anything complex enough to not already exist and require significant funds is complex enough that the spec you give the outsourced programmers will translate wrong, Garbage in garbage out
a little OT, Were you trying to install Lindows on the eMachines computers mentioned above? If so i would recommend Fedora, which has worked beautifully on both my new eMachines computer (T2200se) and old one (533id2), although the 533id2 was heavily altered, a ton more RAM as well as a better sound card (The crystal audio integrated card sucked under windows, never tried it in linux).
If something could actually match Windows in terms of usability, it would create big waves. OS X, Microsoft does work to force people to buy MS products, or do you think that keeping the Office formats a moving target since 95 was just a game the dev team played 'cause they were bored, or binding IE so tight to the OS that it cannot be removed without killing critical parts like windows update.
as opposed to the certain failure after X rewrites that makes flash drives worthless for use on a swap partition(*nix) or partition containing a swap file(windows)
sut your computer to accept SSH connections on :80

my comment was a reference to the bill gates 640K quote (which may or may not be real) and was at 2 because I posted with karma bonus on
....512MB of memory should be enough for anybody....
bullet proof the encryption may be, but delete proof it is not.

Royalties for broadcast go to artist through ASCAP and the other groups like that, not RIAA,

that may be true but they sure as hell didn't release info to make interoperability easier
well anyone who wants to can go recompile KDE with their own program in place of windows, if MS catches you "recompiling" they would sue/prosecute you

well if you switch kernels and a device fails you should at least suspect the new kernel
well companies are learning that when a deal looks too good to be true, it often is. outsourced code ~= shit
eliminate "buisness method" patents altogether, and implement a system for the delivery of atropene to all who apply for them
rar allows crypto
umm no connections = No service, therefore sucessful DoS
isn't part of the definition of spamming that you just blast the ad all over without regard to demographics?
fuck that i'll just switch to rar files with the songs encoded as FLAC
