I have to call Troll/BS on that, FLAC is not 256 kbps MP3, FLAC is it's own format. unless you meant LAME, And yes it is possible to tell the difference between MP3 and lossless, especially in musig that has a large dynamic range such as Heavy guitars combined with Higer note Piano (synth) or Pipe Organs(synth) (yes those instuments can be used together, check out Nightwish if you don't believe me)
When i get a car i think i will modify the "black box" that records like 8 seconds worth of data to instead make a log at 1 second intervals of how fast i have been going for the past X months (X depending on hard drive size) maybe have the system compress the data every night (or parhapse whenever the car is shut off, record it on a per-trip basis with a console to put comments in for a trip) to make sure there is enough space to hold several months of data.

If you are going to reimplement an API, and reproduce bugs in it, then you are incompetent.
Unless Said bugs are well known and depended on by major applications to function properly. recreating an API without implememting (possibly as a switch, o per-application setting) known bugs then you have not implemented the API, you have implemented what the API should have been.
is your CD available on Amazon.com? I would recommend doing whatever is needed to get it up on Amazon. People don't like to put credit card info into random sites. But people trust amazon to handle orders and private info properly.

As for archiving files, antivirus software scans files inside archives. This is pretty much a completely solved problem.
rename Metallica_complete_works.rar Mtlka_cplt_rar.dat antivirus recognizes archives by name, also antivirus cannot work with encrypted rar files. mtlca_cplt.rar with the option set to encrypt file names.

if you clean a system successflly the first thing you should do is delete all old restore points and create a new one
