Lets "Contact" them to let them know what we think of them.... especially snail mail, they cannot just throw out a bunch of mail especially if you make the letters seem like legitimate correspondance (to take some ideas from the troll groups we could add lines like "think about your breathing" to the letters), but more importantly letters require significant time for processing unlike email that can be deleted with one click
no way, the ones on the batteries suck, they take a while and after checking a few batteries you fingers are all chewed up from the deathgrip the testers require to activate, Just get a real tester from radio shack ($5 at MOST) and instantly check any battery (including button cells)
I do know that Industrial batteries are strong, never shocked myself with the one i had back in 7th grade, the thing outlasted regular 9-volt batteries by a factor of 3 or 4... and it put out enough current even when it was weaker to outperform a regular 9 volt after it was below 95%
(no version for netscape/mozilla exists yet...) That is because Firebird 0.7 and firefox 0.8 have a google search widget built in, and other searches can be added to the list.
that would require over 30K from each of those 4 million people, i don't like MS but i sure as hell wouldn't pay 30K (if i had it) to destroy them, now if we could recruit a few countries that don't like american buisnesses it would be easier, Oil-Rich Middle eastern countries would be a good candidate, destroying MS would require dealing with some shady characters to get that kind of money, plus there is no guarantee that they wouldn't just Keep MS how it is but with the profits going to them
let's see now, 6K for an 8Gig flash card or $20 for a three pack of Mini DV tapes at walmart, personally i would rather see cameras implement photo storage and motion jpeg onto tapes, Save a ton of money and as long as there was a decent recovery record (hell, simple triplicate writing would do) you could archive every picture you ever took, combine that with a small flashcard mounted in the tape to store thumbnails and indexing information and it wouldn't be too much of a pain to get the pics off the camera...Camera software loads up the thumbnails and the user selects what to copy over to the computer, then the software grabs the pics off the tape in the order they were written, it would be noticeable slower access times to get one or two pics but grabbing the whole set of vacation pics would be easy, probably be comparable to slower cameras today and be able to store alot more pics at super high resolution (i would think thousands seeing as a 40 minute file from my DV video camera was ~500 megs that would be a lot of High quality JPEG or PNG images)
I think that has to do with the settings in your capture program, I use Pinnacle studio 8 SE because it came with my camera, make sure to set it at full quality capture and NOT preview capture. (preferable MPEG because that works best for re-encoding to DVD)
It is scary considering how long it takse for anything to get fixed in everquest (bankers standing behind the bank in felwithe, Epic quests being broken, network problems "caused" by routers or ISP's that had no problems with more advanced games with higher bandwidth and lower latency requirements which suddenly disappear after a patch... although it does seem familiar, both SOE/Verant and the US Government refuse to admit there is a problem untill they have a solution and like to blame others for their problems.
The Canon &R 70 mc Is a NICE camera, I have had one for almost a year now, Used it for my graduation and a few other things such as vacation etc, logical to use once you RTFM. The only thing lacking is that you have to buy your own DV cable if you are going to do digital capture to your computer from the tape, The battery lasts nicely and recharges fast
bad enough that windows allows executable installers, Installation of an application should be carried out by the OS reading a (Human Readable!)script file, for windows looking perhapse like
nah, in movies they just run GL_Hack a fully interactive OpenGL 3D GUI that removes all the difficulty from hacking, just drag the icon for each type of potential attack onto the representation of the computer you want to attack, if the icon turns from blue to red try a different attack, if it turns green double click the now green icon ann you will automatically rootkit the desired machine, and beware of the white points representing Admins, if they close in to the targeted computer before you disconnect and wipe the logs you will be caught
many technologies have failed or squeezed into a tiny marketshare because they were overly expensive or had less backing when compared to inferior competitors. VHS vs. Beta, Mac vs. Windows.
,
As well as technology being dragged down by legacy compatability requred due to a large ifrastructure such as x86 CPU reverse compatability to previous platforms that is no longer needed but still there and NTSC video standard which hasn't changed since the introduction of color Television (Which is itself reverse compatable to black and white television)
Flat CRT's are damned nice if you have room and are cheaper than a comparable LCD, My girlfriend got one of the newer eMachines packages with the 17" CRT and if I had the room in my dorm i would have gone for one of those displays
If your machine can handle Unreal Tournament 2003 it's good against cheaters and you can usually find public servers with enough other n00bz to have a good time... also if you can find an invasion server that isn't using the RPG mod then you don't play against other players, it's human players v. computer aliens.
But at the same time a developer who is cautious in regards to contracts is also more likely to be aware of IP and liability... I know i would rather have an employee who looked at his/her contract before signing it, Also someone who looks at their contract is less likely to be a problem in the future... changing the contract now is better than having a violation of the contract which lets out trade secrets to competitors.
Successfully dealing with the idiocy of many people while they are trying to get their computer working ("Check to see if the cable between the printer and computer is loose"..."What cable?"..."AARRGGHHH")
I would have to say troubleshooting a dell machine in and of itself is a pretty big accomplishment ( this from a guy who buys and likes eMachines computers)
After reading many of the comments it seems that people are under the impression that VT and lightwave are dead products and of "historical" value, they aren't dead at all, still sold check out NewTeks' web site They still kick ass and i still want one (damned lottery not picking the right numbers)
Xbox is easy as hell to develop for, it runs direct X and a win2k kernel, any Game made for X-box can be "ported" to PC for next to nothing, possibly even just a recompile, oh and the X-box controllers are really USB, just a proprietary cable. There are alot more experienced PC game programmers than GCN programmers, while PS2 has been around a bit longer and has the benifit of being #1 to draw developers
umm, actually i have bought CD's from artists i have never heard of (some of which were pure random buys) and been happy with most of them ($2.00 CD's out of the cheap CD bin make it easy to do)

I think that is the point of Posting anonymous coward, i am pretty sure that info is not logged longer than the day or so for preventing crapfloods

because teachers/professors don't write assignments that include virus/malicious software, and a MoBo nuker is NOT a school assignment

Second Place? I'm pretty sure that 2003 saw more GCN sales than X-Box sales
