    Great! I can't wait a day when Iran and North Korea develop their own Predator drones. Just imagine, Iran army won't have to lose a single life while bombing Israel and American cities!

    The main problem with the Predator drones is that it makes wars easier and cheaper to fight. But only if your opponent is completely powerless (i.e. if you are slaughtering him without any fear of a retaliation).

    So? Artists are often as stupid as RIAA bosses.

    Besides, quite a lot of them think that they'll make $$$$$$$$$$$ from CD sales if only those pesky pirates are dealt with. And almost all of them are not willing to use alternative distribution methods.

    If you read this thread, it has a lot of unproven ideas taken as facts and as much wishful thinking.

    Chicago and NYC, maybe (about 700 miles)? Or maybe NYC to Atlanta? The east coast of USA has a decent population density, a fast railway system makes a lot sense there.

    So? The proposed railway network is not planned to replace airlines, it should complement them.

    It's absolutely not necessary for them to be completely interconnected.

    Yet one can argue that a nice subway system in Moscow is a benefit for all Moscow citizens.

    (also, decoration of subway stations is cheap compared to digging tunnels)

    Yes, your scenario is probable.

    However, European trains (particularly French, of course) are also serviced by unionized workers.

    And USA somehow managed to build good interstate highway system.

    Look at the map of planned routes in the TFA. They are not that long, and the whole network will be shorter than railway network in Germany or France.

    So no, "USA is large" argument does not work here.

    Fast railways are great for distances like 400-600km (they are too big to comfortably drive by car and too small for planes).

    Why do you think that's automatically a 'pork barrel' scheme?

    Rail systems are absolutely superb in European countries (very often it's FASTER to take a train then fly by plane).

    USA could use something like this.

    Nope. Oxygen does not burn, it can't generate heat by itself and you can't cut steel with pure oxygen.

    Bacon provides hydrocarbons which burn in the pure oxygen.

    Amazon is completely within its rights to deny further service to this client because most probably he had abused it. I completely understand and support Amazon there.

    _BUT_ it doesn't give Amazon right to revoke the license to the content which the client had _already_ bought.

    Current PV elements should last 20 years without much degradation. They are not very toxic to produce.

    Yeah, sure. However you might need to replace _everything_ several times in the course of these 100 years.

    ?? PV elements have about the same efficiency as solar thermal plants: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_thermal_energy#Conversion_rates_from_solar_energy_to_electrical_energy

    And PV potentially can take close to ZERO space, because it can be put on roofs and walls.

    10 years for _city_ planning is certainly not much. And it's just fine for greenhouse emissions - we'll still need to think about them ten years later.

    Photovoltaics are more expensive, but once they are installed they are pretty much maintenance-free.

    Solar thermal generators, on the other hand, require constant maintenance since they require a conventional steam turbines and generators.

    In the long run, PV has about the same cost as solar thermal plants.

    Arguably, Android G1 was not really ready for widespread use. It has a lot of rough edges and device itself (I own it) is not very well polished.

    Android is fine. Its API is quite good and easy to use, it allows to write background processes and features like call handling.

    The main problem: it's _still_ interpreted.
