I've been using Gentoo for about 4 months now & I really like it. After using RedHat, Fedora(rpm)...Portage is something that is really amazing.
In fact this is kind of freaky since I'm giving a seminar in my college on Gentoo today & I did look up the exact same IBM Article a few days back. Really nice to know how it all started off.
Thanks to the chap in #gentoo on irc.freenode.net for giving me the link a few days back;)
To be precise, the range of temperatures (of the Oxy-Hydrogen mixture) varies from -200 degrees celcius (on the ground, uptil launch & ignition of the Cryo Stage) to about +3000 degrees Celcius during the actual burn time of the stage.
Somehow LOTR has an amazing feel when your reading the book...but not when your seeing the movie as such. Its been that way with almost *all* movies made from books...the book was better than the movie.
Nevertheless need to give credit to the guys for making a movie out of such a huge book:) sadly I guess am too far off to be visiting the exhibition.
Well to make such an amzing progress takes effort. And they pay their programmers pretty well too ! Most of them have the luxuries of a nice car & home.
They deserve to be where they are right now, the system they have adopted (which has both programmers & volunteers working on RHL) seems to be working really well. That leaves us wondering why haven't the others followed a similar approach & if they did, have they been as successful as RedHat ?
Even though we have had so many advances in technology over the years, its the good ole HAMs that come to our rescue during times of trouble or disaster. Even during the recent blackouts in NYC, they kept in touch & relayed messages back & forth. Often there's just one link who keeps the messages going up & down.
Hats off to you people & thanks for the wonderful job you do!
Operational overhead or not, how many ISP have protested against this ? I still remember a case (slighty diff context) when Yahoo refused to give out member details in court, as it was adhering to its policies. Just coz the govt is bullying the ISPs to part with the info, shouldn't mean they should just give in. If every ISP protested, the lawmakers would probably have some sense & re-think what they are doing. As of now only 2 have stood up & firmly said No. To me it shows atleast someone actually cares...& is ready to fight out dumb laws.
The USA was the first country in the world to address Cyberstalking as a serious issue & get laws effectively punishing the same. It is really sad to see the same lawmakers give such sweeping powers to the DMCA, wherein any tom dick & harry can walk in & say "Mr.X stole my copyrighted work, I need to serve him a subpeona" & this can be handed out by a clerk in the court, without any form of checking as to who the person requsting the subpeona actually is & what his/her intentions are... how dumb can you get ?
I sincerely am hoping that this ISP wins the case/the courts wake up & see what the actual picture is.

Every other component of the GSLV was built in India. The Cryo engine came from Russia.
