Microsoft has a rigorours testing and regression process which ensures that quality products and patches are produced. That's why it takes them so long to release patches once issues are reported.
Yeah right... There's no news here. This is hardly the first time it has happened. Microsoft is slipshod and second rate in all respects.
As a canuck I think you portray the situation as more complex than it really is. The only issue is whether the right politicians have been paid the right amount.
"Then you go and say -we- deliberately misinterpret intelligence reports."
Then you try to misinterpret reality. Yeah he jerked your chain back and forth a number of times but months prior to the invasion the UN inspectors were happy with access. At the time of the invasion they only needed three more months to complete them.
That access was restricted is another lie.
"Sorry, bub, bitching about the rise of non-pro computer users"
Are you always this retarded? I never bitched about non pro computer users. You seriously need some education in basic comprehension. If nothing else I was saying it's not their fault.
Windows is intentionally marketed to those who don't know what they're doing.
So yes it is the fault of windows and MS.
It used to be referred to as selling snake oil.
Debatable anyway... Security issues and alerts are rare in VMS land even during it's heyday.... But there was a decnet alert around March timeframe. No doubt that the issue was likely found the hard way.
"VMS is a modular operating system, networking stacks were ALWAYS layered products that were installed separately and would boot separately."
Agreed. That's why I suggested you define built in. That doesn't meet my definition at all.
"DEC shipped their own TCP/IP drivers since version 6 at the very least and before that came out there were third party products."
Umm no. I also run v6 (6.2) on VAX and there's no dec tcp/ip in site. You are correct when it comes to v7 (7.1).
Decnet works fine (but unecessarily in my case) for wide area networks and was designed from the bottom up for that purpose as well as for local networks.
" To be clear there are no Operating System APIs that IE uses that are not documented on MSDN as part of the platform SDK and available to other browsers and any other software that runs on Windows..' "
His comment just isn't believable due to the source. During the AT trial the same claims that all api's were documented and available was made. But as a result of investigation and cross examination it was shown that that undocumented api's did indeed exist. When it was part of the judgement that they had to be documented and made available there was very loud whining and crying over their crown jewels being stolen from them.
MS, it's employees and officers, simply are not a credible source of any information at all.
There's no confusion when the management of MS lies under oath and provides faked videos as evidence.
They should have been charged as the cheap perjurers that they are.
Blogging has pretty well outlived it's usefullness on the whole. There are still some useful blog sites but for the most part they've been taken over by interest groups, for advocacy, and even the corporate world as a form of advertising. Certainly in some respect that's what blogs always were but now it's commercialized, coordinated and professional.
I think it will be around as long as the web exists but it's no longer (just) a passionate voice speaking out. It no longer has the meaning it had for an all too brief period.
Not totally true. There were a number of system calls removed around v5 or v6. But yeah provided you didn't use those system calls you were still cool.
You could make that many different platforms. I'll really squeek in microvax and toss ontop an alpha and itanium.
VMS is far from dead. I hope lol:)
Yes:) We gave birth to you, raised you, educated you. Now it's payback. But hold in there I'm out of the workforce in three more.
Besides who else are ya gonna borrow a few hundred from when you partied way too hard last week and can't meet this months rent?;)
"According to some that is fact."
Slight disconnect issues huh?
Have a good day.
"Well, when we look at it with all the facts, we see that some think the russians not only supplied iraq's "
Wow you lept from 'facts' to speculation before you even finished the first sentence. Way to go.

"what's good and what's bad ... and where potential problem-spots are. "
Then why don't they fix them instead of ripping consumers off for more money.
They were supposed to document all api's and make them available. Anyone think he's referring to something else besides hidden api's?
As a canuck I think you portray the situation as more complex than it really is. The only issue is whether the right politicians have been paid the right amount.
" If it wouldn't be for MS, most IT web logs would shutdown." You say that is if it would be a bad thing:)

Why delete them. I don't accept them except for 6 different sites. Works for me.
How much did the taxpayers pump out to pay for or subsidize this?
We need the studies equivalent to python's Ministry of Silly Walks.
Sorry I didn't realize I was discussing things with a moron. Can't you follow your own posts?
You stated that dec tcp was included as part of VMS6. It isn't. It wasn't. It's not.
That DEC used to sell it as a separate product was never the issue.
You need to get down off your asinine soap box and remove your head from your ass.

Define built in. It is still a separate product and optional component. and I'm running v7...
Well not really but we (two of us) do happen to be working after hours on a decnet problem as this article appeared.
It may not be dead but it's future life is pretty limited despite it's strengths.
Kermit was also a terminal emulator. Still is.

That they would include the MS ActiveX plugin with this browser?
ActiveX is one of the major attack points against IE/Windows.
Assuming that report was true, and considering how slow AOL has been to address prior NS vuln's, there's really no point in switching from IE.
I'll stick with mozilla.

"it's"
Oh the grammar police. You're quite right of course but it's insignificant.
"By the by, you're not an old geezer if you are only 50 or 51 years old."
Whereas you are both anonymous and a coward?
