  1. Denver on Global Warming Exposes New Islands in the Arctic · · Score: 1

Please bear in mind as you spread your FUD, that although global warming is a given, you can't look at some islands in the Arctic and proclaim "The world is melting! The world is melting!". You have to look at the entire model. I'm sure the people of Denver and the Midwest would like some of their global warming

  2. IT is not the only one with a bad attitude on Is A Bad Attitude Damaging The IT Profession? · · Score: 1

Think about the RIAA, the MPAA, etc.... They assume that their customers are thieves and try to foist ever more bizarre schemes on us to inhibit our fair use. If that fails, they plant evidence on the innocent or manufacture evidence to supporttheir claims. If you want to see yet another group of people with bad attitudes, walk into the procurement office of any federal agency. There's one group of people even more despised than the IT office.

I'd like to point out that GM markets OnStar to other manufacturers as well. You can get OnStar in your Volkswagen Touareg as well. Sorry to burst your bubbles

Remember, 50% of all scientific reports are wrong. So that means either the report is wrong, or its correct. Even then, the hole may be 50% smaller that reported, or is that 50% larger than reported. This is soooo confusing..... I like kitties....

  5. Re:Stop Calling Them Alternative on Alternative Browsers Impede Investigations · · Score: 1

Alternative Browsers? Sounds like some wierd fetish to me. Really, even if Firefox, et al stores data in different places, as a forensic analyst I have to find out how things work. One of the scariest thoughts I can imagine is giving a person who carries a gun, a computer and tell him to go find bad guys. That;s why the FBI has dedicated CART teams, led by an agent. It combines the investigative skills of the Agent with the techincal skills of the examiner. Wanted: SWF, 30's, into watersports and alternative browsers

  6. Timely Article on Online Shoppers Naive About Online Prices · · Score: 1

This was a very timely post. Yesterday I ordered a Pantone Colorvision Spyder2. I saw it posted on a Pricegrabber-like service for $151 so I ordered it. When I got the confirmation message, I was pissed that it wouldn't ship until next week. I went to the same service from my home PC and it was $70 higher across the board.

  7. Try the Fed on Finding Student IT Security Placements in the Industry? · · Score: 1

Assuming that you're in the US, try the Federal government. They're always hiring interns. Just focus your search on civilian agencies, and you shouldn't have to worry about needing to get a clearance.

A few years ago I was in Turin visiting relatives with my mother. Someone pulled up beside us at a stop light, looked both ways, and ran the red. Mom said: "See how crazy Italian drivers are? That guy just ran a red light!" My response was: "At least he stopped and looked both ways."
