Host and forward your number? I have no idea what you are thinking here.

If you want to port your current phone number to a VoIP provider you'll have to find one that is willing to deal with the incredible headache that is LNP paperwork, and you simply provide them a copy of your current bill and pray.

Or you can use a hardware interface card from digium.com to connect a t1 or pots line directly to your server.

    /msg nickserv register mypassword

    /msg nickserv identify mypassword

    Sure.

For example, their TDM400 cards, they will randomly stop working and you'll just get static on the line when you pickup. The only way to fix it is to unload and reload the kernel modules.

This problem has been widely reported by numerous people on the mailing list. Digiums only action has been to offer to send a replacement card if you call em (which does nothing).

A system to land a plane remotely (i.e. from "the tower" has never been deployed on commercial airliners. Furthermore an autopilot is NOT capable of automatically landing a plane at the vast majority of airports.

Unless of course you run PHP as your shell...no...that's just too horrid to imagine.
