I think to settle this debate is a possible real-world example. Look at the story on the Jboss Nukes Project. It explains the CPU utilization and speed of the PHP version and how moving to a J2EE implementation decreased the wait times dramatically.
Its difficult to argue with facts.

No...you are not correct. Your point about JSPs is only this is only true under a model 1 implementation/design. A model 2 implementation (where your business logic is done in Java objects) utilizes JSPs exactly like Velocity...only as a template. See Struts and other MVC frameworks that embrace a model 2 implmentation of JSPs.
It has nothing to do with HU being dead now. They are/were suing people for devices purchased (and supposedly used) years ago.
Not true. The point I was making was thier first argument was the monumental losses they incurred from piracy. They state "just look at all of the site distributing piracy equipment". This was one of thier strongest ways to win over a judge or jury. Now they lack this ability because the websites are for-the-most part gone. They cannot go into a judge and cry about the huge losses. Now it looks to a judge as big company laying the smack down on Joe consumer.
More importantly, also due to the SOLs (statute of limitations) occurring, they are finding that thier ability to sue is drying up. Therefore, they try to fix the PR by making the public think they are burying the hatchet with thier 'customers'. Why not go out with everyone thinking you arte the 'good guy'. No reason for folks to buy loaders anymore, so the SOL is catching up to them.
This timing has everything to do with the HU stream ending
Everyone thinks this is due to the EFF's hard work. As much as I have great respect for the EFF and honor thier initiatives, this deceision was not due to thier hard work.
DirecTV swapped out thier P3 cards and shut down mass piracy in April. They have sued over 24000 people. With piracy down to 0 for them, they will have a hard time convincing courts since thier arguments are not nearly as strong without all of those web sites hawking hacked cards. I think this agreement to be a "kinder and gentler DirecTV " is purely due to them cleaning up the stream, and not the hard work of the EFF. If there were still 1000s of hacked cards out there, rest assured, DirecTV would continue its extortion campaign.
I am a little confused here on your tirade. You attack me when I clearly have concrete evidence of the question you ask. Now because your fearless leader was caught calling the world "against" the US because they don't go along with its Republican views, is not also a "narrow mind"? It is the attacker who is likely to have the "narrow mind".
Grow up my friend...life is too good to spend useless and wasteful time attacking others who do not share your same political beliefs. You should turn your anger towards more productive uses:(
McCarthy was ultimately defeated by his 'fellow' Anti-communists, because he was an opportunist loonie who did more damage to the cause of freedom than even most Communists.
And he didn't have 'FBI drones.'
Hmmm...I think you need to read...
Please read up on Lillian Hellman's file regarding suuposed "communist ties". Her file contained the following information:
The plays and memoirs of Lillian Hellman (1905-1984) may well outlast the continuing criticism of her by old and newright professional Red baiters. They have judged her, above all else, by her strong liberal views and not by her writings. In this writer's opinion, some of her critics envied her long romantic association with Dashiell Hammett, the idealized author of The Maltese Falcon and other pioneering works in the field of detective fiction. Hellman haters fell in step behind J. Edgar Hoover and witch hunting congressional committees who despised what she had to say, the organizations she belonged to, her admittedly abrasive style and her financial rewards from writing.
Miss Hellman's FBI file contained 307 censored pages; 37 of these pages were denied...
Clearly McCarthy had FBI drones who were sent to quash those whose ideas were not the same as certain congressional members.
As for your statement about McCarthy being "an opportunist loonie who did more damage to the cause of freedom than most Communists"...
How do you explain what the Patriot Act is? Sure sounds like it was written by an "opportunist loonie who did more to damage the cause of freedom than most" terrorists. Doesn't it? Its both yours and my constitutional rights that are now in jeaopardy. Again...I reiterate...history repeats itself (and yes I know my McCarthy history).
Although it's what you want to believe, your comments are patently ridiculous and based in fantasy. Name a mainstream public figure who brands anyone "not being a huge advocate of US policies" a terrorist...
Does any and all of this remind of you of Mcarthyism? Where McCarthy sent his FBI drones out after anybody who mentioned anything liberal or against "his" representation of U.S. policies?
Remember how anyone who spoke out against the USA was labelled a communist and harrassed by the FBI?
Now when you are not a huge advocate of US policies and speak out...you aren't labeled a communist...you are labeled a terrorist.
Interesting how history repeats itself. Bush=Ashcroft=McCarthy.
Why all this talk of fighting back? Don't commit a crime and no one will be 'attacking' you. Does anyone here actually care this much about freedom from government monitoring and "our rights", or is this more just about wanting free movies/songs/software?
2 wrongs don't make a right.
We have laws and the constitution to protect our "rights". While it may be considered wrong to download a ripped song or movie, its equally as wrong to monitor and violate constitutional provisions and US code. Its the law and it should be abided by.
Some of use care about our privacy. Do we need to be monitored by what we download, the emails we send, etc? I don't know about you, but I care about my privacy and it bothers me to think that big companies are conspiring to watch my conversations and downloading habits, whether I am breaking the law or not.
Once we stop caring about our "rights", that's when our trouble begins and our country runs into trouble. It shouldn't matter if you are Joe Downloader or the RIAA, the law should apply in all respects.
Anybody think about going after Comcast for violating USC 18 2511(c)? It states:
2511(c)intentionally discloses, or endeavors to disclose, to any other person the contents of any wire, oral, or electronic communication, knowing or having reason to know that the information was obtained through the interception of a wire, oral, or electronic communication in violation of this subsection;
And more specifically 2511(3)(a):
2511(3)(a)Except as provided in paragraph (b) of this subsection, a person or entity providing an electronic communication service to the public shall not intentionally divulge the contents of any communication (other than one to such person or entity, or an agent thereof) while in transmission on that service to any person or entity other than an addressee or intended recipient of such communication or an agent of such addressee or intended recipient.
Looks to me like Comcast violated US criminal ccode and perhaps 371 (conspiracy with MGM).
This is quite interesting Ashcroft testified in the 9/11 proceedings. Interesting things to note is that "a now-famous memo from the Phoenix FBI office about possible terrorist infiltration of aviation schools did not reach decision-makers until after the attacks." As well as, FBI directory Juis Freeh stating "One is that there was a lack of resources."
Hmm...a lack of resources and information not getting to the proper people. Could it be because they are using thier resources to bust little kids? I am glad our country has thier priorities in order.
They will use a free webhosting service...and one with a legitimate name. Set up the account so the index.html contains a redirect to the spammer's client site. That is going to be tough to stop.
We hear from both camps. On one side (and the side I am on), software development claims the jobs are moving overseas, and therefore make jobs more scarce here in the US and thus by pure supply and demand, salaries and rates go down. This is a no brainer.
But then we hear from the Bush administration and companies who embrace the outsourcing initiatives, saying that we need additional training to make us more valuable to companies, and we will therefore have more value and thus be paid more. They claim new skills such as design and architecture will be key.
The question is, does the Bush administration and other companies really expect that we accept this claim? Being both an economics major in college, as well as being a software architect for several years, I am claiming the law of supply and demand applies here as well. If more people are learning architecture and design, then supply of headcount will outnumber the demand for architecture and design. Salaries then go down and jobs become scarce. Being that I have been an architect for so long, I have felt the pinch of my rate and salary due to this simple law of economics. How does the Bush adminstration and supporting organizations of outsourcing explain where all these newly trained architects will find work and how salaries will effectively increase? Are they really telling us we need to be in another industry? Its kind of hard to tell people this, now isn't it?
To all naysayers...I own a Palm, a PocketPC (iPaq 5555), Zaurus 5600, and...ding-ding...Zaurus C760 (basically the exact same thing as a C860 with a different color).
Yeah...Sharp is real stupid for not marketing these bad boys in USA. For you Clie wannabe lovers, here is what you can do with a Zaurus C760:
Opera 7 browser...I mean a real browser with Java and Javascript. Not a "I wish I was a real IE on IPAQ" or Pal. This is the real deal...full 100% browser.
Bash shell/terminal. ssh into your favorite box.
GCC. Bored? Compile your favorite software and run it in that lamo meeting you are in.
VPNC - Need access to your corporate Cisco VPN? Use vpnc...its the freeware Cisco VPN client. Gets you right into your company. Yeah try that on a Palm or pay some $$ on the iPaq for that.
Email - All flavors...pop, IMAP, jeez...even notes.
Sniff? Wanna see who is using wireless? Use Kismet or Wellenreiter.. Talk about Warwalking/driving...this is the shit.
Do Windows? rdesktop baby! Pull your Windblowz box on this puppy. Yeah I know iPaq/PocketPC can do this...but can your Palm?
Apache/PHP/MySQL - Yeah this is not shit. Run a full web app on this PDA...yeah PDA. Get iPaq/PocketPC and Palm to play that game. Good luck.
This is just the beginning folks. All of this on a PDA. I invite any other PDA to do the above.
mplayer...yes...I said mplayer. I constantly carry around 2-3 full length feature films on my CF card plugged into the C760. I can watch a full movie with mplayer..this includes DIVX, MPEG4, OGG...you name it. Its the same proggy you use on your home Linux box.
Do that with your CLIE;-)

Here is some proof:
Piracy--> DirecTV pirate to possibly get 30 years
Murderer--> Reckless skier homicide gets 90 days jail
Piracy--> Pirate to get 50 months prison
Drugs and Prostitution--> Darryl Strawberry get 18months for drugs and prostitution solicitation.
Priorities are in line, wouldn't you agree?
